  1. The idea is fantastic, but will factories do it? I'm not too sure... Factories which produce high end reps do so by purchasing the gen, and then replicating it from there, why is it that then they seem to screw up in such simple details that would have posed no challenge to replicate? Things like logos on the dial, or anywhere else for that matter, that is one of the most simplest things to copy, I know someone who has replicated 100% exactly, (he say's even the materials) Nike trainers (or kicks for you yanks ), he had to put a fair bit of work into it, sourcing the rubber and other materials Nike use, but he did it at the end of the day. For whatever reason, factories INTENTIONALLY do not produce 1:1 reps (in looks) though I think they very easily can. I also believe this is to keep us buying reps everytime an 'improved' version came out. What would the impact be if a watch factory produced the Holy Grail, a 1:1 Sub Imagine thousands were sold, all around the world. Do you think if Rolex came to know about this they would want to crackdown on these? I reckon they would, didn't something similar happen with Hublot? If this happens then it has a huge impact on the factories who produce replicas, the business gets shut down.
  2. Thanks TeeJay They may very well be from the same factory but my date font is different to yours, my one is way off and you're one is more gen like I can see why this watch is one of the favourites amongst the replica watch community, these are stunners in person
  3. There are no reps currently for the 202/A or 203 yet are there?
  4. That's the dressiest Omega I've ever seen Too much of an 'old man's' watch for me, but I can see why it appeals to those who like classy watches. As long as small flaws don't bother you then it's fine, it's apparent that quite a lot of forum members get too 'anal' when it comes to minute details. At the end of the day it's a replica, and we purchase them for a fraction of what they're sold for. It's like us wanting to buy a Toyota or a BMW for $400 or less and still expecting it to be exactly the same as a Toyota or a BMW it's not gonna happen
  5. I recently ordered a SMP from my supplier, come on, what watch collection is called a collection without this one! Being a relative newbie, I don't know much about specifics about watches I'm interested in, I do what I can to research them and make sure I don't end up with a watch that's too flawed. I'm not someone who demands 100% accuracy so small imperfections don't bother me So far, all my reps have asian movements, and they do me just fine I just don't see the point of spending an extra $100+ just so the seconds 'beat smoother', and a few improved cosmetic aspects of the watch such as the datefont or dial printing etc. I told my supplier to source me this, with the marker at 3:00 and to make sure the clasp is engraved rather than etched. That's it! He's by no means a watch specialist so all the details I require come from me. I was quite pleased when I received this one, it had the hour marker at 3:00 and the clasp was engraved Are there flaws? Of course there are! The pearl is by no means perfect, I'm sure others more skilled than me can pick out other faults. The dial printing won't obviously be spot on, the date font is completely off! However one thing I love about this watch is that the date switches exactly at 12:00 on the dot! I think the bezel is too dark also, compared to other replicas I have seen on this board, but it's not too bad. The markers are too green also, it might not be clearly seen in these pictures as I turned up the exposure but its more green than a lot of the other reps I have seen! The dial wave isn't strong either but it's ok. Well there you have it, my first ever Bond SMP! I also got the Planet Ocean which is on my wrist right now as I type, it has become one of my favourites since I got I might make a small review of it also. Thanks! Onto the pictures:
  6. Thanks, I was just thinking it might be screws because the head is certainly shaped like a screw, just very faint, not very noticeable. Do I tap the pins out on this side or on the opposite side?
  7. I don't know if you can make that out, but thats the supposed 'screws' on the SMP bracelet. Theres a very faint screw head line where the screw driver is supposed to be placed, so faint that it might as well not be there because no screw driver can fit into that Heres the AP RO Chrono bracelet: The screw heads are badly made, the notches are deep but wonky so a flat head screw driver just simply doesn't lock in.
  8. I am not actually 100% sure if they are screws or pins with screw heads. I can make out faint screw notches on the heads, as if they are really poorly designed screws I'll try tapping them out and see if I have any luck. I'm sure that the current SMP watches asian or ETA come with screws instead of pins in the bracelet don't they?
  9. Hi everyone, today I received 6 reps I had ordered last week (yes a haul I know ), as far as I know, they are spot on in terms of aesthetics and build. However 4 of them all had a common problem, either the screws on the bracelet were so badly designed that none of my screw drivers would fit properly into the 'notches' to allow me to turn them and therefore adjust the bracelets, or the some of the screws are so stubborn that they simply refuse to turn no matter how much torque I apply! The screws on my SMP are so bad that there simply aren't any notches at all, they are barely visible and there is no way any kind of screw driver will fit in there. The way it looks right now is that I will have to somehow file in 'notches' so they become deeper so that maybe with some luck, I can make them into proper screws and allow a screw driver to turn them. Has anyone here had these kind of problems with any of their reps, and if so, how did you solve this? Many thanks in advance, it is much appreciated
  10. Also, we have to consider that though the present government's reasons behind such ID cards might be 'pure', we have no idea what future governments will be like and how they might use this kind of sensitive information. Can they really be used to combat terrorism? Well considering that 3 of the bombers of 07/2005 were born and bred in Yorkshire, this wouldn't seem to be the case all the time.
  11. The English government want to introduce ID cards as a means to combat terrorism, stamp down on illegal immigrants, organized crime rings and stop identity theft amongst other things. However there are some issues regarding the effectiveness of these ID cards, and if they really are the answer to some of the problems faced by society. Recent events have shown very clearly how concerned the government is to keep our personal details secure. MoD computers being stolen and data discs being missing/stolen from the post, indicates that they don't take it very seriously at all. If these cards could somehow be copied, then they will be targeted by the very terrorists and criminals they are supposed to stop, in the hopes of creating false identities. What do you guys think? Do you think that ID cards can be a useful method to combat crime and terrorism and other issues such as illegal immigration?
  12. Sad news indeed. I hope his loved ones get through it OK. RIP
  13. That's a good combo lello! I haven't seen that before, but must say looks as impressive as a PAM with a polished case. Let me start off by posting some pics of actors/celebs wearing PAMs on steel: First we have Hugh Grant in 'Bridget Jones' Diary': Here's Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) in 'The Rundown":
  14. Yes, I think the PAM bracelets are visually appealing. They are certainly built well and does not feel cheap and flimsy such as the Rolex sub bracelets for example. Also, am I correct in thinking that most of the leather straps worn on Panerai watches can't be worn while in contact with water? What good is wearing a watch that was designed and built for the Italian NAVY to be worn while diving in water and having to avoid wearing it when in contact with water @Tazzman, thats a brilliant shot of the 112H on steel. @HammerTime, a wonderful review and again good pictures! I think we should post our good shots of PAMs on Steel (I would take some of mine but I am experiencing a minor difficulty with my current camera and should soon have the problem sorted out )
  15. I think the ROO looks best on the SS strap, these straps are amongst my favourite SS straps made
  16. My PAM 111h has become my daily beater for quite a while now, and I am more than pleased with this watch However, I know PAMS are made for leather, but I am personally a Stainless Steel guy and so I wear it on Steel all the time now. I did have it on my rep strap for a while however I just wasn't 'feeling' it and I don't think I am a leather guy though it was more comfortable, as the leather makes the watch light to wear. Who else here wears their PAMS only on SS?
  17. I would go for the 111h Asian Unitas. Very nice watch, good value and will last for a long time.
  18. I love the AP ROO's as well. Personally I think they look best on stainless steel, more sporty, the way they are designed to look
  19. Welcome to the forum, and a wise choice indeed. The PAM 111H is my first and only Panerai and certainly one of the best currently available!
  20. Very informative read. I didn't quite understand what the bezel or the chronographs used for, now I do Thanks gioarmani!
  21. Looking at all these wristshots makes me feel envious As I only have 2 reps, it will be a little more time before I become a regular poster on these wristshot threads
  22. Sometimes they are very slow and the fraud seller ends up selling it and make a killing on replicas.
  23. It is all about getting used to the size of the watch. I wore my PAM 111h for 2 weeks without swapping it and when I put on my Day-Date, it felt so small that I had to actually measure it to make sure it wasn't a woman's size it actually looked like it was because I was used to seeing the Panerai on my wrist.
