Count me in, would have donated earlier but I spent the entire day yesterday beer tasting- I mean really tasting it not just getting drunk like some bum. Top tip- when you get to the tenth tripple beer at 9% it's a good time to stop.

Surely it would be British wood as Calypso was an old minesweeper?

The guy in question acted like a pathetic loser IMO. What difference does it make if the watch is genuine or a replica? It's a piece of jewellery and a timepiece. Nothing more nothing less. The fact he tried to make some capital out of it's status marks him out as a grade 'A' social climbing superficial a-hole I've been told my genuine Seadweller and Seamaster were fakes, I've also had another Rolex owner swearing blind that my old rep SD was genuine- he couldn't believe it wasn't authentic, likewise my Tag Chrono. I now have a policy of telling people the genuine pieces are fake and replica ones are real. If someones interested enough to have a conversation about something you're wearing then why not have some fun with them? edit due to swear filter!

I knew his Father was ill, it's sad to hear he's no longer with us. My heartfelt condolence to Reg and family.

Regarding the lume it's not so much the tone of light more the fact it seems to lose luminescence after a 3 hours or so. Maybe the lume on the U2 is better or I just got a stinker?

Fantastic watch which I wish I could have afforded over my U1. Another issue with these watches is the finish on the strap. It has a sort of titanium look finish on it which wears off pretty easily. Leaving you with shiny areas which stick out like a sore thumb. Not a problem if you've got the rubber strap (I have both) but annoying nevertheless. Hardly what you'd expect of a tool watch. Also I don't know what the lume is like on your U2 but it's pretty weak on my U1- an area of improvement for Sinn I think. I'm thinking about removing the top side AR as well, it marks too easily and mine now has a scratch in it as alluded to at the top of the thread. Winds me up every time I see it. While I'm on a roll my U1 isn't that great a time keeper either, certainly no better than some of my more accurate reps it gains about 5 seconds a day. If all this sounds like I've got a downer on Sinns then you'd be wrong. It's built like the proverbial brick outhouse and for

As the ex-owner of more than 10 Rolex Submariner/Seadweller reps I can confirm you have to get deeper into the madness before you come out the other side.........I worked out I'd spent more on buying and modding my collection than the real thing..... .......but by great caesar's ghost I had a good time doing it.

He's good, I tried to watch for misdirection but he suckered me in everytime.

I thought the so called 'closed factory' model was also available as a bog standard 2531.80. At least the one I used to have had the bracelet with pins. Getting more confused now but it's good to hear you think it's genuine.
-
It does look good but the vendor is cagey about where they bought it from. As the pictures aren't great it got me wondering what sort of profit there would be in sticking a genuine bezel on a 'closed factory' rep and buying a box set off ebay. I reckon you could double your money thus why I'm concerned. What I can't really see is if the HE valve is in the right place or not. Any other 'tells' I should be looking for?
-
I keep looking at these and find myself wondering if they are in fact from the 'closed factory' (used to have one which was stolen in a burglary). This is the latest, fake or real? Tell me before I spend my wad on one of the original super reps!
-
None of those images struck me as being particularly 'gay', naff maybe. Maybe it's all in the eye of the beholder?

You know what> I almost think I prefer the LV and black subs with no writing on them.

There's no doubting that human being abuse and exploit the planet. However remember how in the seventies 'they' said there was going to be a new ice age? Now it's global warming (which peversely might also trigger a new ice age) that's the threat. My own feeling is that global warming may very well be a threat to our continued existence on this planet but that the aim of politicians in promoting that theory is to use it as yet another method of social control. That's why I say 'don't believe the hype'.

What country has the best Special Forces/Special Operation in the world
Febus replied to cool-arrow's topic in The looney bin
USA without a doubt. I can't believe nobody has mentioned them. If some bad ass dude is trying to shut down your nailbar/beauty salon business in order to build a casino on your land then these guys are the special farces you need as back up. Plus if you've got any old crap lying around in your barn they'll build a tank out of it. -
that would be it then!
-
That's it then, I knew there was something fishy about it I couldn't quite put my finger on. It's being sold as an 'automatic'. You can tell it's quartz due to the dial writing I guess?
-
Poor photo but can anyone tell if this is genuine or not? It's being sold on a board I frequent and my first feeling was it looks genuine but there's something evasive about the seller.
-
Cheers guys, mine is one of the tight ones then, I'll use some care and take it off. Lightning fast response as well it's much appreciated.

An obvious and simple question this one I am sure however before I start forcing things and screwing the watch up I thought I'd ask here. I have a Planet Ocean 6th Generation (I think, it was bought December 2006) which was sold to me as having an ETA movement in it. I'd like to check that it does before I sell it here on RWG. So can anyone tell me how to remove it- it looks to me as if it will just twist/screw out but before I go and wreck it some confirmation would be nice.
-
I guess I agree broadly with what your saying, particularly that the market will always set it's own price. I guess we are all mostly living in capitalist regimes. However for my own part I don't think my conscience would allow me to charge more.
-
It all depends on the watch surely. I sold two recently- a now discontinued and not often found TW best Seadweller in very good condition for

Nice user name 'Pubus' kind of reminds me of someone else's. Also a great story and I think I remember looking in that shop last time I was in Madrid. Anyway to answer your question I was in a watch boutique located in a luxury hotel and wearing my 'Ultimate' Planet Ocean and the guy selling me a Sinn U1 said before I took it off- "that's an unusually good copy- where did you get it?". Said he spotted the bezel pearl and that something about it just didn't look right when I asked him how he knew. He had a '007' 45mm on his own wrist so I guess he knew them pretty well even though he didn't specialise in them. He was very impressed with the overall quality of my watch but of course the only info I gave him on it's origins was 'China'. Not only did I get out of there alive I also got a free rubber strap for the U1 and a couple of Sinn tools.
