  1. arrggh, why did I come on this thread..... Updated and added to the 'To buy list': Ebel 1191 Discovery panda ...and black aswell...black looks amazing! That Tudor Heritage quartz Breitling Superocean Abyss Seriously though they've all been on the list for a while, just gonna have to part with funds sooner now! Sigh! This was pretty good out of the box in it's day: And these lately:
  2. They certainly do, I couldn't make do with a short one, the reason i tried the bergeon part in the cheap tool unit is I thought it might be more durable (judging by their other tools) than the included ones, and it certainly is, after resizing mabye 50 or more bracelets (some awkward ones) it's still perfect, it thought it might have bent a little but it didn't!
  3. This is the one I'm currently using in the same type of unit (well using the 1.5mm dia rather than the 2mm dia but for reference): It's at least a cm in length, the original ones that came with the unit were similar...a little shorter maybe but nothing like the pusher you show above!?
  4. I see it now, god that does look tiny...something wrong about that? Why so small, they are not all like that!?
  5. Anyway you're done now are you going to keep the non-chron 500m or go for the chrono? Looks damn good as is!
  6. They work fine for me jkay, the are a lot longer than a couple of mms at the pin end, a cm or so, not sure off hand but definitely a cm... gives plenty of room to get in past half way and just pull the pin out...90% of the time all thats needed is a thumb and forefinger to pull it out the rest of the way, on a very odd occasion i've had to use a small pilers to get it to give.
  7. I'd love to know that too, are these available generally as reps...never saw one in my life, looks amazing!
  8. Nice work, interesting project, and I thought the AR was half decent out of the box, then again never saw gen so I'd nothing to compare to except pics!
  9. These were the bergeon parts used to fit the af swiss tool...the bergeon parts are for a £225 tool, but they fit the cheap remover great, and are impossible to break...well so far anyway! They are actually cheaper than I thought...not a tenner each but £1.50 each and come in various sizes. Saying all that, agree with logan, the af swiss tool on its own is bloody durable by itself! These are handy as 'backup'!
  10. Lol Nanuq, great idea with the fish hook offshore, great ingenuity!
  11. Am I missing something? Whats wrong with one of these basic ones?: http://www.bostonwat...djusting/Detail Very durable, when it eventually bent the pusher, I bought a Bergeon attachment part....(from one of their much dearer tools, but the part was only £10) ....It went in fine and works fine with the AF swiss tool, the bergeon never failed , still fine with years of use!
  12. This photo was put up sometime ago, thanks to mojako, good illustration of rep vs gen dial lume on a franken in progress, even better than some side by side lume shots of rep vs gen dial as they can be unevenly charged: What a difference a dial makes, and even the lume on the rep hands is pretty good!
  13. Some great points guys, I always worry I'm gonna knock gens, even if they are not very expensive ones...simply because parts are too damn dear to replace, with reps, while I don't want to beat the living daylights outta them either I feel much happier that it wouldn't be a huge bill if parts were needed. Also bamcky, another good thing about owning a franken PO above gen is the movement, while I'm not saying it's as good as a 2500 calibre, the faults and problems with the 2500 cal are well documented, this combined with the shoddy service from Omega service centres and plenty of stories about waiting 6 months to get a watch repaired only to get it back and have it stop again 3 months later. If the rep movement craps out at least a simple swap out is all that's needed, job done, watch back on the wrist in an hour or so! Plenty of people have been turned off Omega gens with the 2500 simply because of these problems. Now I've never had an issue with mine, and don't want to tempt fate ....not easy to find a watchmaker even to work on the coaxials!
  14. Lume makes a big difference, good job on the 2nd hand, where did you get it or did you mod it? My datewheel on mine is thin aswell,....a little annoying.
  15. Yep, good stuff, there are monumental amounts of threads across all the forums covering po frankens, it's a very popular watch and a very popular franken to do....it's great because the amount of details are a great reference if you want to try it yourself. The alternative is to get one of the forum watch modders like domi or zig to do the work. You will love the franken once you are finished!
  16. This famous guide will give you a fair idea: http://www.rwgforum....utorials-redux/ Edit: Sorry Jkay, just seeing your post...again, I should refresh before I post
  17. It's pretty much the same as any movement swap, I'm not sure I've seen any threads covering a po dg4813 swap but it would be exactly the same procedure as a dg2813 swap which would've been documented many times on the forums with a21j noob subs etc.
  18. Yep as Ade says that will take all parts fine, it's a standard 5th gen 42mm PO, it's one of the early releases of the 5th gen, a fine base for a franken. Lots of threads on the forum regarding the procedure needed for a franken, you sound like you've already covered most of the details anyway!
  19. Cheers guys, no problems chou, just handy to know of an alternate source for future reps etc...I've bought and replaced standard swiss eta in reps before but never dealt with these clones directly from parts suppliers rather than from our dealers. They seem to get good feedback. The 2892 clone is also interesting. Swiss parts are getting too dear directly from suppliers like ofrei and cousinsuk these days.
  20. That's what I'm hoping isn't an issue....so far I'm hearing it is straight swap with no issues as slickdick says.
  21. Yeah agree, it's funny you mention it, I'm not really a lume person here either.....the complete lack of lume on my noob sub and many of my other reps is just fine with me, perfectly happy with them. The thing that got me with the gen PO dial is just how much the lume changes the look of the watch even in daylight, it makes the dial pop! Spending loads on it is questionable but I would say I would rather do a franken PO with gen dial/hands and leave out the gen crystal (Good AR modded job is fine), and as much as it pains me the rep bezel is passable(at least on the 42mm with good pearl)...than any other combination!
  22. Yeah I agree the 42mm is slightly better out of the box in terms of pearl and date window etc, but really the same thing above with lume/AR applies to both 45mm and 42mm, great reps but they all need mods to be 1:1. It's a tough call. It really needs full price breakdown before jumping in....and you also have to be sure you love the watch so much you won't flip it as you would be losing money. Keeping costs down as much as possible is the only way! There's almost a full franken for sale over on the geek now 42mm @ $1500, no disrespect to the guy and I hope he gets what he wants but if I really wanted a PO and was comparing that to the used gens on watchrecon @ around $2000 then I know which direction I'd be going in!
  23. Very nice, is it mid sized version though? looks small?
