oberblender Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Look at this lumeshot... This has to be faked! What do you say? http://www.prowatch-polo.com/showpic_big.a...284.jpg&s=3 (http://www.prowatch-polo.com/showpic.asp?ArticleID=873 ) what do you think? this is kind of strange... Edited July 8, 2009 by oberblender
ammandel Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Why? looks like standard rep lume to me! Bet it stays like that for about 3 seconds then fades to nothing.. Same as always
oberblender Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 nah, I mean how could the writing be lumed? it is a sandwich dial... only the numerals can be lumed...
silverspeed Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I don't see anything unusual about the pic, other then the 10secs exposure according to the exif data Looks like normal rep lume
kbiz Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 yeah charge standard rep with super bright led light take pic immediately... lume dead in 10 secs...
oberblender Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 I am talking about the lumed writing and the red dot!
By-Tor Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 No comment about that picture... but lots of people seem to fake their lume shots these days. Here and in the gen forums too. It's not nice. I have done doctored lume shots as well... but I have never "colored" anything... just used the double layer PhotoShop trick... and ALWAYS mentioned about it. This picture is a good example of 2/layers /dark shot/light shot combined together. Easy way to spot a fake lume shot (esp. Rolex) is the complete lack of green reflection on the rehaut and crystal. Any bozo can use the lasso tool and color the lumed areas green, but faking the reflection is much tougher. The layer trick is fun to do occasionally but not "authentic"... but completely fake PS lume is totally embarrassing (at least when you don't mention about it).
TeeJay Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Given the inconsistent level of illumination of the markings (bright and dark spots in the same mark) I think it could well be an untampered photo...
oberblender Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 if it is not fake it would have to be some kind of new dial with glowing writing... don't even think the gen has that... (strange however is that the hands have no lume at all, but the red dot is glowing...) red lume???
Pugwash Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 if it is not fake it would have to be some kind of new dial with glowing writing... don't even think the gen has that... (strange however is that the hands have no lume at all, but the red dot is glowing...) red lume??? Glowing writing is nothing special. If the dial is screen-printed, it's simple enough. Here are some of my unfaked lumeshots: Gen Seiko Rep Panerai with not-so-good lume: Rep IWC with ok lume:

(strange however is that the hands have no lume at all, but the red dot is glowing...) red lume??? Red lume is not an impossibility. Also, if the factory are silkscreening the lume onto the dial, it's certainly possible that they included the branding in that process (such as the silkscreened lume on the IWC Aquatimer bezel)... Given that Polo is a new dealer, I would think that the admin have taken steps to ensure that photos are accurate to the product displayed
JohnG Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Not faked nope. As already said, probably doesn't last long though. Why do you think there is no such thing a lumed printing? Or red lume? Where do people get these ideas?
Jkay Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Now, this would be a fake lume. Well ... with a 10 second exposure, as the EXIF data reveals, a faint lume can appear to be brilliant. There's no way to tell without a side-by-side comparison.
BROM Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 How do you tell time on that watch I cannot see the hands
capice Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 I think the red dot is the glow of the camera, the iptcdata of this pic says it has an 10sec of exposure so it's probably made with a selftimer explaining the red lightdot, to me this is not a faked shot, maybe pushed the saturation a bit

oberblender Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 hmmm strange.... why would the put glowing text on the dial... really don't think the gen has that... (if this is real this has to be some strange new version of the watch)
theflyingdutchman Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Okay, besides the pic discussion what do you think about www.prowatch-polo.com
JohnG Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Okay, besides the pic discussion what do you think about www.prowatch-polo.com don't know them, looks interesting..... noobs should stay away until more experienced members have tested them out
capice Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 communication taks a while sometimes............................
trailboss Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 nope, it is the second hand, this is a u-boat. Good point. Col.
rower Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Faked lume pics of a fake watch...what's this world coming to? Thank you for "shedding some light" on this! I guess you have to be "bright" to figure all this out.
FxrAndy Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Have non have you noticed that there is no lume on the hands, so it does not matter how good or bad the lume is on the dial if you cant see the freeking hands.
