p90 x

I was just talking to a friend who has done P90, P90x and is working on the Insanity workout right now. His take was that the P90 workout is amazing for building base conditioning if you don't have the fitness level to do P90X. With P90X there is more of an emphasis on strength and mass building. But of the three, he thought that Insanity was the true butt kicker for intensity, difficulty and aerobic conditioning.

The conclusion? For the 4th round, he's going to do a combination of the 2 workouts as they each provide benefit in the different areas so a blend will hopefully provide the best overall result for him. This is just his take...

i didnt measure body fat% until week 4 but at that time i was around 17% so i am assuming 19-20% to start. i just finished up at 174lbs and 11.8% body fat according to my scale. so i lost roughly 60% of my body fat in 3 months. start insanity monday with a goal of 7% body fat after that 60 day program.

I'm just starting. When I say starting, I'm not going to do the diet, and I'm going to spread the workouts a bit more to compensate for other activities.

I did the first arms and back workout on Saturday and felt so unwell after it I didn't do abs ripper X until Sunday.

I forget what disc I'm on tonight, then climbing tomorrow, etc...

I really should do the diet because my main problem is fat (and [censored]), rather than a lack of muscle (though I am not huge at 6'3", 206 ish lbs).

I'll let you know how I get on.

Just wanted to mention that I love p90x and it is awesome in the summer. But during the winter where no one is going to see much of your body besides you and your women I decided to check out www.stronglifts.com who have a great starter program that builds muscle fast using a 5 x 5 technique. I'm currently doing it and I have to say after you do feel like your plateau'ing on p90x its worth looking in to. Best of all its free!

I am a strength and conditioning specialist and I can say the P90X program works. it is not easy. it works because it keeps you moving and the workouts varyso the body never really adapts. if you've been sedentary for a while start off slow

Wait.... Are you saying if you work out and eat healthy that you will lose weight?

GET OUTA TOWN!

Hey, I lost about 25lbs in 6 weeks doing p90X. I also dropped about 5% body fat. It was intense. Problem is, I broke a small bone in my foot which has kept me from progressing further into the program. I think I landed wrong during one of the plyo sets. I'm going to try again in about 3 weeks.

Are you sure it's not all those pins in your face that complicates eating? I'd loose weight like that :p

That's part of it. :)

After taking some time off, due to a pretty rough auto accident, I'm going to start the P90X program again. I still have a back injury and have put on some weight but I have the OK from the Doc to start exercising again. I'll do just the Cardio set for the first two weeks to build back some endurance. It may even take 3 weeks. Once I'm able to burn through it at the expected pace and can complete it with some level of confidence, I'll start the lean version of the P90X program.

I will post weekly results.

as a physician... not to say " i know what I am talking about..." but... can't be humble here... it works

From a professional perspective, I see programs like these ("dodgy supplements plus high impact workouts") as having a high % of snake oil about them.

A reputable personal trainer is the best way to achieve results IMO.

I have seen people perform some of those exercises as well as those from Crossfit with poor form. Poor form will always lead to some type of injury. I agree it is best to seek the services of a competent trainer, if not for the long term, for enough time to learn what is correct for you and what isn't. Injuries while not always permanent lead to setbacks and frustration. Ask others who have had a trainer and have had results who they recommend. Thats how I get almost all my clients. I specialize in designing progrmas for people with limitations. I get a lot of referrals from PT's MD's and Chiros

I have done P90X Three times in two years. It is a great system. In the summer months, I tend to be all lower body (Running, Cycling, and Kung-Fu), but in the Winter it gives me a great opportunity to work the upper body and balance myself out.

However, I just started it back up yesterday, and managed to pinch/tweek my Sciatic Nerve by being stupid and not properly lifting and moving my dumbbells. I am the dumbbell. :bangin: As soon as I heal, looks like I may just go back to Yoga and Tai Chi before jumping back to weights.

Good form is key!

I am the Yogavangelist. Never underestimate the power of yoga as the ultimate cross-training tool. If you do the hard, physical kind...it's a blast and great for party tricks.

Helps with recovery, strength, balance, everything.

I've seen fantastic results of p90x with lots of friends.
