Certainly small by today's standards, the 34mm Oyster Perpetual takes some getting used to after wearing any of the larger modern watches. In my humble opinion, these pieces are still just as classy as they were brand new in the dealers case so many years ago. All of these watches have the famed 1560 movement, which is itself a testament of good engineering since they have lasted so long, still working as good as new. A wonderful clan & not small at all. 36mm is the sweet spot for a classic gentleman's watch & anything over 40mm is, to my eye, just showy overkill. The 1530/1560's were 18K beats and were supplanted by the 1520/1570 in the middle 60's (19800bph). That 1005 is a beaut, but the 1002 is the epitome of Rolex classic design- understated, but classic. I'll admit I enjoy wearing the steel watches the most, yet I'll keep the two tone in my collection as a rare and super clean example of one of Rolex's most basic designs.
