deltatahoe
based on recent discussions (click here), we have concluded that original red subs from that era actually came with beveled crystals (not top hat crystals). good luck with your project deltatahoe

Gorilladame
Actually it is even a 1575 (1570 is the 1575 without a date) Also I think it is a 9315 bracelet, folded (here on a 1977 1680 : http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=995993)... Nanuq
I believe for 1970 yours should be non-quickset movement. There was a break right around 1970/71 -ish where it changed.
stilty
1570 vs 1575 is a bit of a moot point. Even 1655 and 1675 have 1570 marked movements, and they are GMT models. And even the 1016 can have a 1570. I have a 1570 in my 1680, originally from a date model 1601. oh yes, they will all be non-quickset. the quick set date feature wasn't introduced until the 3035. FxrAndy
Thanks Guys, I am leaning towards a white dial as i like it more, it could still be authentic as service replacement. I think the hardest bit will be a silver date wheel for a 2486 untill or if a 1570 ever turns up.
Tribal
You can also take a AS 1573 movement there the daterotation is correct for a gen silver Datewheel ! Beat is also correct. But hard to find but way cheaper
FxrAndy
Thanks Tribal i may just look for one if this was to be a 1970 but had been serviced then a white dial is possible with a 703 crown and a 93150 bracelet and 580 endlinks (going this route as i prefer the parts and the look and they will be easier to get) also i want white not yellow markers and hands. Has any one got a puretime 1665 and changed the movement and date wheel??? I want your old date wheel
FxrAndy
What i am aiming for, if i can engrave a low 3mill serial number than it would be 1970 with a non hacking movement, a white service replacement dial sill some lume
omgiv
Hi Tribal, The site I looked up says that an AS 1573 is a 13" hand wind movement without date. Is there possibly a different number? Thanks!!!
stilty
What i am aiming for, if i can engrave a low 3mill serial number than it would be 1970 with a non hacking movement, a white service replacement dial sill some lume Like the one I built! Stilty's 1680 Mine is a custom case with a 1972 serial. I used the serial from the donor 1601 case. If you are looking for a service dial, I would use it with a gen movement. They are expensive and I don't recommend cutting off the feet to fit on an ETA.
FxrAndy
Yep silty that is the one just like that, but i think i will be using a 2846 and MBW dial for a while until i can find A the cash B a gen movement C a gen dial I think i will relume the MBW dial and hands with white tritec SL
