redwatch
Ok folks....I am going to propose a little game. Some of you may have seen the thread about my new watch that I got for my birthday a few weeks ago. I got a Stølås Harbormaster Spinnaker which you can check out here Whatever123 had asked what kind of movement the watch has in it. The website only says its a 25 jewel movement. So here is the game: First member to guess correctly the brand and type of movement, and who is not a supporting member, will get a free VIP membership for 1 year paid for by me. If a VIP member is the first who guesses correctly, then I will upgrade them to a Platinum membership for 1 year. If you are a Platinum member already, you will get my utmost respect and adoration This will be based on post order. If there is two posts back to back that are both correct, the first one in the line will win. I have not opened the caseback yet. I will let this run for one day and then check out the watch tomorrow morning. I don't want to spoil the surprise GAME ON!!!!!
Whatever123
It's a ETA 2824 clone movement... so it's a rep movement, lol...
redwatch
Specifics please....and no referencing the website now....
Whatever123
Oh, by the way - I am completely satisfied with your respect and adoration (*g*), no need to upgrade me! Edit: Oh, it is stated on the Stolas website... just a little bit hidden. It's linked in the blog I posted above.
miagi
hmm cool game redwatch! im throwing the updated 2824-2 out there as my bet. its a really sweet watch with Norwegian letters on the dial, not everyday one sees that
vafarmer70
Shanghai Movement running at 28,800bph. A couple other watch makers use this as well.
txcollector
ETA 2824-2 or ETA 2836-2 those are the only two 25 jewels that come to mind. Miyotas don't come in 25 jewels and Seagulls with 25 jewels exist but they are rare.
Whatever123
2824-2 clone movement @ 28,800bph... I hope they service them before they put them in the watches...
txcollector
it could also be the Soprod A-
z80
I'll say a Seagull TY2130.

txcollector
I'll say a Seagull TY2130. I thought the ST21 was a 21j, not 25j.
Mark Eleven
It's Selita SW200 movement.
z80
I thought the ST21 was a 21j, not 25j. It thought the TY2130 was the direct clone of the 2824-2.
txcollector
It thought the TY2130 was the direct clone of the 2824-2. The clone thing is a weird concept. The ST21 has 21j and the 2824-2 has 25j. It's not a 1:1 copy.
vafarmer70
Gum and toothpicks... I would imagine Dave, that servicing costs on this would be quite reasonable
txcollector
It's Selita SW200 movement. Forgot about the Sellitas but isn't that a 26j?
Lex2009
I think its Sellita 220 ... so a 2836-2 clone Regards Lex2009

subbiesrock
Gum and toothpicks... ...or one of those little wooden birds that flops over and 'drinks' the water - except it's going at 28.8kbph
h2000
Shanghai Movement running at 28,800bph. A couple other watch makers use this as well. I concur!
lgking
I agree, at that price point it must be either a Seagul or another Shanghai movement.
