bumroxas Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Hi Guys. This is my first attempt to do a diy 5513 cartel build. I didnt drill the lugholes, dont have 1.2 springbars so i just wanted to use what I had... just widened the outside holes using a small round file. I think its still too small? Also overdid the insert bleach. dropped it in for about 5 secs only. next would be to file the CGs and shorten the crown. Man this hobby is consuming me!!
dutchguy2 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Not bad, not bad at all. I think the biggest fun for me are these budget builds.
bumroxas Posted September 3, 2011 Author Report Posted September 3, 2011 Thanks dutchguy...You got that right. I love these budget builds... a couple of watches more I'll probably have more tools than my local watchsmith.
krpster Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Looks pretty good. Budget builds are fun because there is very little to loose by trying things. Easier to take risks. Nice job.
bumroxas Posted September 3, 2011 Author Report Posted September 3, 2011 Dutchguy, BTW your build was my inspiration...
Jkay Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Nice! You did just the right amount of aging.
VesperMatt Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Insert looks great to me! I need to pick one of these up soon.
dutchguy2 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Dutchguy, BTW your build was my inspiration... Well, thank you I spent half a day fitting a gen crown. But without the proper tools you won't get the new tube in decent. I screwed up 2 tubes and it still is not 100% correct. So I just ordered the right tool for it and a couple of new tubes.
dutchguy2 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 I think it is a good idea to show of our 5513 on a NATO strap. So, here is mine:
bumroxas Posted September 4, 2011 Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 Superb! Here's a wrist shot. 1

Ueno Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Beautiful, I just wish they would fix the CG's. They would be just great. Here is mine... well was mine... sold it a while ago... I need to get me a new one..
bumroxas Posted September 4, 2011 Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 Love what you did to the CG's. Your previous postings was one of my references. Was this hand filed or did you use a dremel?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Beautiful, I just wish they would fix the CG's. They would be just great. rehaut is too shallow also but the guards are definitely the sticking point
Ephry73 Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Quick and dirty of one I just built using a case Chiman12 sourced for me. Milsub dial, sword hands, aged bezel. On a custom black Zulu PVD strap. Odd comb, but apparently these were issued as parts were available. E
Ephry73 Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Love what you did to the CG's. Your previous postings was one of my references. Was this hand filed or did you use a dremel? Be VERY VERY careful with a dremel. Use the slowest speed setting when ever possible. It is very easy to [censored] it up if not careful. I like to hand file first. Small file and a vise grip and patience. You can always take more later, but it is VERY hard to put material back on E
cjjoyce1 Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Love mine on Nato even more than on rivet!
