M, very glad you are happy with it and I appreciate the "attaboy". I think from now on I'm only going to do work on watches like this with plexi crystals...

That has been where my interest is for a while now. I love my 16610 and 16613 but I really like the 5513 and this 1016. I kinda screwed up the dial...got something on it and had to rub a little and lost some of the gold...hate that. But hey... Love those plastic crystals.

I've got one of those jmb bezels and they sure are great. I wouldn't have been able to build my 1016 w/o it!

1601 DJ case, 2824-2 motor, 24-600 crown and a relumed Yuki dial courtesty of LHOOQ- one of his hand me downs!

Watch is WR to boot. I love the understatement.

Thanks again JB!

I finally got around to build one of my own after many bezels went out the door! And, like the 'goat, dial is an LH hand-me-down...

But, I need to give LH a big chunk of the credit as he did all of the research, measuring, eye-balling, etc., to get the proportions correct.

By the way...I need to thank LH for a consult on this. I wonder if he has one more throw-away dial. I built this gilt-dial 1016 with a croc strap and even a Rolex buckle, but now I think I am having buyer's remorse. Maybe the "tool" dial with a riveted or folded link bracelet would have been a better choice over the fancy, going out dial.

Well, this was a nice thread to read! It's great to see the old dials on one page, and I'm glad I could help you out, M. Unfortunately, I'm all out of 1016 dials, but maybe praetor can do something about that. :)

Still loving my bezels, too. That was a very satisfying project.

That's very nice indeed. There is this one "explorer" case I have that I may want to build a bigger 1016 with. I know I know. Looks perfect guys. This is one seriously understated, and beautiful watch.

highoe - I'm not sure, messing with sheet metal is kind of a PITA. Maybe a die with corresponding properly shaped "punch" could be machined to get the bends and folds started but I'm not sure I have the patience for that!
