PureTime Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 (edited) A sample from the factory, really nice. I have never seen a PAM with correct date mag like this one. AR coating is nice, I am not an expert on PAMs, any improvement on this beauty is welcome. I can talk to the factory to improve it if possible. Enjoy Edited March 30, 2007 by PureTime
Star69 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 amazing !!!! i can finally get a PAM with date !
Finepics Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 GMT hand arrow too big and wrong caseback. This should have the standard Arktos caseback.
dadog13 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 i like it too...it is very nice...but since i have no pics of the gen thus i cannot tell you any possible improvements that should be done...if there are any!
Quarks Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The date mag is impressive. I am all over this one even the dial colour is wrong. Well done on the date mag!! I am impressed!!!
rolli Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 hi, here is a gen northpole picture !!!!!!!!! cheers rolli
slay Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 what about the bezel? are the markers glued on? I wont buy any of those watches until there's a proper fix for that! the glue sucks big time and I wont risk losing a letter of my bezel!
Finepics Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The date mag is impressive. I am all over this one even the dial colour is wrong. Well done on the date mag!! I am impressed!!! I think you might be thinking of the one that Mike Horn wore on his expedition which had a silver sub dial - production models are all black as this one is.
Quarks Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Correct my eyes if I am wrong, the genuine northpole gmt dial is dark blue, not black. http://www.paneristi.com/images/SIHH2006/DSC00569.JPG http://www.paneristi.com/images/SIHH2006/DSC00570.JPG
leitztozeiss Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Very nice date mag. How is that achieved? Is it a two-lens design like the rep power reserve models?
chubbchubb Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Looks very nice.... just minor improvements and we're there... I'd be in for one... I love PAM, GMT watches and finally a PAM with good looking date... ... this is probably just the angle of the picture but I don't see any riffle on the side of the bezel of the rep...
PureTime Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks all for your info, will let the facotry know about it. @Mark: what do you mean by standard arktos caseback? @slay: sorry, should be the same as last one, but the quality should be improved, will ask him as well. @leitztozeiss: This crystal is made according to the genuine one, non-two lens one.
Quarks Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 According to the 2006 special edition catalog, the dial is indeed blue. The caseback looks very accurate as well. This is a very well done rep. Esp with the date mag. I am floored by the quality of it.
Finepics Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Sorry Angus - just realised that this is the North Pole edition not the PAM205 Arktos GMT so the caseback is correct. Club Panerai describe the PAM 252 as having a blue dial and of 500 units.
Finepics Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The GMT hand needs to be the same size pointer as the PAM 63 type - might have to get me one of these if that dial colour can be corrected
Logan Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The case back engraving looks very weak.. like its just laser engraved on the surface on the metal.. its should have more depth.
Maikel Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The GMT hand is the biggest flaw for me...let's wait & see what the final result will be. Keep my $$ in my pocket for this one
Watchmeister Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Other than the date font, size of GMT hand and blue dial/ flat colored sub-dial it looks great. But when you talk to the rep manufacturer tell them all the recent GMT hands (Arktos, 88,89, etc.) are wrong. If they correctly sized it it would help sell all the newer GMT's.
Watchwatcher Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 The GMT hand on this is WRONG, totally. Unless I am mistaken, the GMT hand should have a smaller arrow point tip, like this 029B
Nebakanezzar Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Nice Angus, As Slay said, Can you find out how the bezel markers are installed? The problem of them falling off is very common...one of the main issues keeping me from buying one of these...
Watchmeister Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Looking at it again, I am liking it more and more. May just be a must have. My key question is what is the dial color and how it compares to the gen. You relume, fix that date font, add a Palp crown and you have a kick ass rep. Hmm!
Watchmeister Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I also have been hoping to find out whether the reps with 7750 based GMT make the same adjustments to the base movement as on the gen GMT PAM's.
rsv123 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 My 2c: Seconds subdial should recessed further and not have concentric rings on, it should be plain like the main dial.Date font needs to be a little bolder.N, S, E, W markers should be welded or at least stuck on properly - have had 2 previous Arktos reps lose bezel markers and would not buy another unless this issue is resolved. GMT hand needs to be smaller
Dario33 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Nice Angus, As Slay said, Can you find out how the bezel markers are installed? The problem of them falling off is very common...one of the main issues keeping me from buying one of these... My main concern as well. Only way I'd get one is if those bad boys are screwed in.
