alifizan Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 I woke this morning to put my watch on,a Rolex ceramic submariner that I bought from Trevor a few months ago and I saw the pearl was missing from the Bezel, I've tried looking high and low for it but can't bloody find it, could a good samaritan give me some advice on what to do next, is it a case of just getting another pearl and sticking it on,I love this watch and now it looks off key, please anyone
Watchmeister Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Assuming the pearl is luminova there should be aftermarket dots available but someone else who is more knowledgeable can chime in. On my older subs I just leave the hole empty when they fall out or break - they always do.

sneed12 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 So the pearl's not missing--the cup is still there--just the luminous material has fallen out. Honestly, if it were me I'd fill it in with white paint and some epoxy and call it a day. If you really want to fix it, I have no idea where to buy a ceramic sub pearl, but I know you can get replacement ceramic inserts with (crappy but useable) pearls on eBay for pretty cheap. Last one I bought was $20.

JoeyB Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Do you want it to be luminous, and what color? If green matches. go to your local hobby or art store. Buy a 5 oz. bottle of 'Glo-Paint', and buy a two part epoxy. The 5 minute variety will work, but you have to be aware that it will start to set within 5 minutes. Take equal parts of the epoxy, about a drop of each, on an old business card or similar. Add in about half a drop of the 'Glo-Paint' and using a toothpick mix thoroughly to a uniform color. Take a good sized drop of the mixture on the end of a clean toothpick, and insert the toothpick in the center of your pearl cup. Allow the mixture to drip in. It should bulge up slightly, and rounded. Check for and pop any air bubbles. Take the used toothpick and stick it in the remaining mixture on the card and wait until it hardens. Then you know it's all done. If you mess it up or simply don't like it use naptha/paint thinner to clean/remove the epoxy. Should be under $10, and you've got plenty for when you lose it again!
duke1973 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Your lucky you still have the pearl cup intact, as Joey said all you have to do is mix up some blue lume/epoxy and re-fill it. Had you lost the entire pearl cup you would've been up the creek! The pearl is on a stud that goes down into the insert, these are not like the standard sub pearls that are easy to replace. And as already mentioned, NOBODY has these for sale yet!

I didn't start modding anything until about 2½ years ago. It helps if you already drink too much. Seriously, just keep a small amount of naptha and a rag right there. If you mess it up it will all wipe out no harm done. And the worst thing that could happen is that you wipe out the insert and have to buy a new one, as you plan to do now. Is it worth $10 to do it yourself and, if successful, be proud of your first mod? Only you can make that decision.

alifizan Posted December 12, 2011 Author Report Posted December 12, 2011 What it is the pearl has fallen out of the cup, the cup that the pearl rests on has no home in it, is totally clean metal, ice seen some pearls for the submariner but I don't think they are made for the ceramic Bezel submariner

I didn't know what color you needed, I've used the green. http://www.dickblick.com/products/palmer-glow-in-the-dark-luminous-paint/ From what I've read they have different colors including blue. I would suggest an art supply store, or online.
