hilts Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Hi guys - I have a white 42mm Explorer 2 already - one of the earlier models with the hands skinnier than the gen. When the new Swiss 1:1 model was released by Trusty I noticed the better hands etc so dropped $400 on a new one. I've just received the QC pics from Andrew and to me this looks just like the old version added to his website in July and is still available - I have it on my wrist as I type! It looks nothing like the new version (added 8 Jan 2012) on his website with the fat hands. Top pic is the QC pic from his website for the new 1:1. Bottom pic is the QC pic he emailed me today. We've been back and forward by email and can't agree. I should say I've dealt with Andrew many times and have always been a satisfied customer - I think there is some confusion here and nothing malicious but what are your thoughts? QC pics from website - this is what I want. QC pic received from Trusty - this isn't what I want!! Edited February 4, 2012 by hilts
FxrAndy Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Tell him then, send the pic of the watch you do want to the dealer and tell him that is the one you want
hilts Posted February 4, 2012 Author Report Posted February 4, 2012 Yer have done that - I'm sure we'll get sorted but was wondering if I had the wrong end of the stick and they are in fact the same watch. I don't think they are.
duke1973 Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 The bottom one looks like $hit! The hands and dial markers suck.
Leroy Jenkins Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Please keep us updated. I was about to purchase but the QC is not the same as the website. Thanks.
hilts Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Andrew tells me he's asked the factory to send new one again and I'm getting new QC pics so fingers crossed they will match website. Will keep you updated.
hilts Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 That is the old watch in the qc pic. That's what I kept saying too!!
rek001 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 I'm very interested in this new white Exp too, but I'm going to wait a bit until supply gets sorted out. Good luck with this, Andrew is an excellent dealer but sometimes you get into a situation in which the dealer just doesn't see what you see, hate when that happens.
watcher Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 I'm waiting for the black one to arrive
hilts Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 We're in business. New QC pic as below just received. Bit of confusion there but looks like Andy has sorted it out. Stay tuned - when this arrives I'll be posting some detailed pics of the 3 versions I have - old rep, new rep and gen.
cib0rgman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 The reality is that QC don't matter until you receive the watch they can send somerthing totally different. Good luck
denisegold Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 We're in business. New QC pic as below just received. Bit of confusion there but looks like Andy has sorted it out. Stay tuned - when this arrives I'll be posting some detailed pics of the 3 versions I have - old rep, new rep and gen. check the DW! Looks wonky.
baglc1 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 5,6 and 7 indices look to be a different colour, the date wheel looks to far left and if you look at the Rolex rehaut engravings between 10,11 and 12 they dont line up with the seconds ticks. Orange EXPLORER II different colour than the GMT hand, Or is it just me.
hilts Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Or is it just me. DW for sure, but this is a lot better than the first generation IMO especially "just out of the box". I'll do a detailed comparison vs gen when it arrives.
oberblender Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 haha same confusion with my dealer...
