lhooq
The electric Chronometer was invented in 1969 by the watch companies Heuer, Breitling, and Hamilton, who were all in a partnership. They developed this technology secretly, in hopes that other companies would not see their efforts and beat them to the patent. It was in Geneva and in New York that this partnership shared the first automatic chronograph with the world on March 3rd 1969. This first automatic chronographs were labeled “chrono-matic”. [15] [16] Many people confuse chronograph with a chronometer, but in order to be labeled a chronometer the watch must be certified by the COSC, the official Swiss Chronometer testing institute. Many companies such as Rolex, Chrony, Swiss, Nautica, and Tommy Hilfiger sell their own styles of chronographs. While today you mostly see chronographs in the form of wrist watches, in the early 19th, century pocket chronographs were very popular. Automatic Chronograph The first automatic chronograph was invented and patented by the Swiss watch manufacturer - Tag Heuer in 1963. In that year the released of Tag Heuer Grand Carrera 1963 was announced. This watch was the first one ever to be equipped with automatic movement system and is in production till today. Later other watches from the same series- Carrera Calibre were produced with automatic chronograph. Few years after then brands like Rolex and Omega also patented their own automatic chronograph system Episode III: Backstroke of the West?

subbiesrock
Tag? Almost every fact in that article is wrong, and so is the terminology. It's crazy that it hasn't been edited yet. Usually Wiki nerds wouldn't let that kind of intellectual travesty slide - the must be very busy

freddy333
As I learned a long time ago (& continue to re-learn over & over & over again), relying on the public for information is like relying on the government for protection. Great, in theory, but terrible, in practice.
