A pair of vintage steel Patek

ubiquitous

Recommended Posts

After having had my fair share of vintage Rolex projects, I figured it was time to diversify a bit.

2012 has been pretty focused on PPCo; started with this one (which is still a work in progress)...

Right when I was about to get the V23 converted to 13 130 specs, I happened upon the following project...

Gen 23 300 movement, genuine dial (solid 18k YG dial plate) and genuine WG baton hands. I have a gen crown waiting to go on; I need a longer stem which I am working on. I was planning on trying to hunt down the correct 18k case for the movement, but I rather like the steel case that it was retrofitted to.

Still have much to do, but both pieces are wearable for now. More to follow...

Thanks for looking!

Indeed; the big crown makes a big difference smile.png So much nicer to wind now...

Thought I'd include a pic of the internals uncased:

And (for me) the especially interesting part...

What do you intend to do to the Chrono?

For the chronograph, I'm having a new dial done and I still need to have the movement converted to gen specs. So for now, I consider it to be only 40%-ish complete...

Interesting stuff.

Any details or just suspence at this stage....???

(VERY curious.... :) )

For the dial... Stay tuned.

For the movement... Might be a bit before I get to that. Have some other things lining up in my sights as well as a couple of family trips to Disneyland this year; since the conversion will run $5k-ish, I'll probably push it out to maybe later this year...
