ubiquitous Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 After having had my fair share of vintage Rolex projects, I figured it was time to diversify a bit. 2012 has been pretty focused on PPCo; started with this one (which is still a work in progress)... Right when I was about to get the V23 converted to 13 130 specs, I happened upon the following project... Gen 23 300 movement, genuine dial (solid 18k YG dial plate) and genuine WG baton hands. I have a gen crown waiting to go on; I need a longer stem which I am working on. I was planning on trying to hunt down the correct 18k case for the movement, but I rather like the steel case that it was retrofitted to. Still have much to do, but both pieces are wearable for now. More to follow... Thanks for looking! //ubi
Justasgood Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 YAWN! Nothing to see here......just another masterpiece from the master. Hey Ubi, mix it up a little and put together a crappy watch on occasion Guess your Rolex supplier has been fired
dluddy Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Wow R, that new one is a beauty Remember, you never actually own a Patek... You're merely looking after it for the next generation
Donerix 2.0 Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Love the chrono. What are the dimensions?
mbjoer Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I like both of them. What do you intend to do to the Chrono?
ubiquitous Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 Indeed; the big crown makes a big difference So much nicer to wind now... Thought I'd include a pic of the internals uncased: And (for me) the especially interesting part... What do you intend to do to the Chrono? For the chronograph, I'm having a new dial done and I still need to have the movement converted to gen specs. So for now, I consider it to be only 40%-ish complete...
flex Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 you are the king of franken Ubi. your works never ceased to amaze me
ubiquitous Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 Thank you, gents. I appreciate the very kind words

ubiquitous Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 For the dial... Stay tuned. For the movement... Might be a bit before I get to that. Have some other things lining up in my sights as well as a couple of family trips to Disneyland this year; since the conversion will run $5k-ish, I'll probably push it out to maybe later this year...
