Bond Po?

Yeah, saw some pics of them at WUS or TZ.

The only difference is the seconds hand and caseback, eh? Not worth the extra price, imho.

Not to say black PO isn't amazing watch, but as a special edition model the old Seamaster 007 was much cooler.

There's nothing wrong with a little product placement, but I actually think Omega are killing the golden goose with all these '007' special editions.

The first one (40th Anniversary model SMP with 007 replacing Seamaster waves, 007 applique on dial and the gunbarrel caseback) was borderline tacky. The gunbarrel face Co-Axial SMP was overwhelmingly voted the ugliest watch most of us had seen, and this is just a parts bin special (the second hand in particular). I do however suspect it is not for real.

If you want to know what overdoing the 007 connections can do for your credibility, try a google search for 'OK Connery'...

Edit: The CR Ltd Edition PO is for real, unfortunately.....

Totally agree - there's a difference between the watch that Bond wears and a Bond-themed watch.

Was looking at the 300M 'swirly' Chrono in the AD window today - they have it as the main attraction with the black PO hidden away at the back. (Secretly having a "bloody hell these reps are good" moment looking across the entire range)

Looking at the Omega site - 45mm black PO

....must....resist....

There are some fantastic deals to be had on the Brosnan era non Co-Axial SMP at the moment, even if the window prices haven't fallen ;)

As for the 45mm/22mm black PO, the minute someone reps the 22mm rubber strap or starts selling the genuine straps for something less than complete rip-off prices ($300!!) I'm there. In the meantime my lightly modded Asian 45mm/20mm from Trusty is serving me very well - what is the point in buying the ETA version with rubber strap when it has a poorer dial (oversized Omega logo) and the exact same everything else?!

I think it is sick that omega think they can charge what theydo for ther gen straps, i am so glad that our dealers have got the good leather straps and deployments now.

This is tempting me more, not helping me resist!! (Jokes aside, your info on the PO is always fantastic, and much appreciated)

And just how good are the deals on the 'Brosnans'? (hehehe...)

Here is another interesting Bond PO chrono. I would like to have one,,,,but not wear one

Is that blue bezel watch a fantasy? At the start of the film he uses the black PO on a black rubber strap and at the casino uses a (co-axial) Blue SMP, which looks v.silmilar to the old Bond SMP. Don't think the chrono features in the film...

The blue bezel watch is indeed a fantasy piece - a photoshop effort that ended up being used out of context.

No PO chronos for the film. DC wears the black 45mm PO for the early action scenes and switches to an SMP for the formal wear.

The watch he wore on set for principle filming was in fact a SMP 300m GMT model as the design of the Co-Axial hadn't been finalised yet, but close up shots where the face of the watch is visible were cut-in later using a 'hand/arm double'.

Edit: I just saw the 'Bond Bingo' card at the bottom of that page. The people who made it up are clearly clueless...

Old News - No Smoking in Casino Royale

Ah, I just noticed Dell Deaton's name there. That figures...

I'm a sap for the bond/omega stuff, the only thing that stops me is the size and this bond po looks like a 45 which is perfect (except that it is way too much money). I've decided to go with the 45mm PO rep but can't predict if the larger logo will bug me or not.

If it is a rubber strap model you want and you must have it now then buy the inexpensive Asia movement 45mm PO.

If it is the steel strap version you are looking for then hang fire a short while as two of our respected dealers have reported that the oversized logo issue is in the process of being remedied.

As for when a proper 22mm rubber strapped version will appear - your guess is as good as mine, but a steel one should be fit for a band swap when it does eventually surface.

@cornerstone. Half price good enough for ya?!

You're right about the tackyness of the black PO with the red '007'. I hadn't noticed the color initially- but if it was silver it wouldn't seem as tacky to me, personally. It would be more along the lines of a cool novelty that was subtle enough not to seem overly transparent...but then again, I get off on that, where I would imagine others wouldn't.

It does suck about the lack of availability of black rubber straps for EITHER the 42.5mm or 45mm model PO on a good quality rep (ie: not the asian automatics). I would have that watch if the rep makers were to get going on that. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I have it on good authority that right now, no-one will look at making the 22mm rubber strap to fit the new POs. Apparently the perception is that ther eisn't sufficient expected ROI to warrant it.

Like others here and as R11co - our resident (but not only ;)) Bond expert has said, there is a huge demand for this strap, but that's here and as we know we represent a small but informed minority. Personally I don't see how they cannot create a new mold to yield a 2mm wider strap to same spec (plus the PO lettering punch-out on the strap underside in addition to the current Seamaster logo on the 20mm strap), surely a relatively simple procedure, yet can retool and use complex CNC techniques to create 1:1 SS cases!

Bean-counting, once again, is the bane of my life.

It's not just the 45mm version that you can't use a rubber strap with. *I believe* that unless you're going with an asian automatic version of the PO, you can't use a rubber strap with the 42.5mm version, either. This has been a somewhat confusing issue to try and sort out, but that's what I've been able to gather.

And I agree with you and others who feel that the PO looks best on a rubber strap. Whether just for authenticity with the Bond theme, or just in general. The leather alternatives don't go all the way to the case, in terms of how they sit on the lugs vs. the rubber strap- which is something I don't really like with the PO's, whereas I don't mind it on Pams.

I don't like the 007 on the end of the seconds hand... the real 007 would not announce himself like that. Anyone looking at his watch would notice the glaring red...

Yeah, if it was SS then it would be alright by me...but even then, I can see why some wouldn't like it. I think it would be a subtle 'nod' to the Bondness of the watch.

To make it red, though....it just seems so unnatural to the neutral colors of the watch. If it was the orange-numbered version of the black bezelled PO, then *maybe* you can get away it...but even then.

:mellow::huh::blink::lol:

No, nor would he have an endorsement deal with a major Swiss house either ;). Given Civil Service/FCO budgets, he'd more likely be given a Casio. :whistling:

Seriously though, I don't see a problem with it. Sure the purists will sneer, but it really depends on just how limited this "limited edition" is? If it is say under 5000 pieces then unlike the old ubiquitous 007 SMP then it will add to the interest and resale value. We're talking a couple of tiny wee cosmetic differences, but hey nobody's interested in or willing to pay money for such things in the horological world are they? :brow::rolleyes:
