danielv2000
My nephew is into watches. I'd like to get him a nice watch but don't want to buy him a rep. What's a nice Rolex style watch? He doesn't like my PAMs as much as my GMT Pepsi or Yachtmaster. Thanks
Utheman
Steinhart (not sure of the spelling) makes some decent Rolex style homage watches.

danielv2000
What about Alpha watches? They have a lot of inexpensive homage watches as well?

danielv2000
What sort of budget are you talking? The kid is in high school. I was thinking no more than $200. He has a thing for my Pepsi GMT and Daytona's.

Adeodatus
Definitely Seiko. Get him a nice "fiver" and educate him about the brand. (in case he doesn't know already)

Adeodatus
Or if he's into vintage - Seiko 6139: Imho Seiko is a perfect first watch, one he'll be fond of even after many many years Edited August 21, 2012 by Adeodatus
danielv2000
Thanks for the input so far... Those are some nice Seiko watches!
panerai153
I would definitely second the Seiko's. you can get him a nice Seiko dive watch for around 200.00 USD or less on Ebay or on the web. they are pretty bulletproof, have the best lume around, and keep good time. Quartz or mechanical Seiko has them all!!
maxman
Seiko for sure...you wont find a better watch with as a achievement rich history as the Seiko. Not for the money anyway. Mike
sgtguk
+100 on the Seiko any diver model is really great value and will give him years of wear with no worries
ChipSlap
I have a Pepsi dial Seiko diver on a jubilee bracelet that rocks. Model SKX009. no better value.
dbutlerman
Here's another vote for the seiko. Great watch, bulletproof, waterproof, killer Lume, and customizable if he ever decides to get into modding. Definitely go for the mechanical version. Buy him an extra bracelet or strap. The alphas are too much of a "fake" fake rolex to me. Homage or not...go with the seiko. It's something different.

Nanuq
A fun thing about Seiko is Harold at Yobokies. Customize to your heart's content, for cheap. http://m161.photobucket.com/albums/yobokies/Hands/?src=www&start=
