Frankens: Past and Present

So I was bored yesterday and did a search for Frankens here on RWG. The problem is there wasn't an easy way to see all the finished ones...so...here's the place. Post your past and present collection of Franken builds here:

Hi panerai153 - I used an old Yuki case. Fit the movement like a charm...I hear that they had some issues for while...not sure if they got them resolved or not...I sold the watch a while ago, and bought a Gen 79090 - but it doesn't quite hit the exact spot...close...very close

Fun post DB!

Here's an old collection pix, mainly the gilt 369 5513 and gilt 1675 are gone from the fold.

Sorry -no new group shot, but my 7032 got a small facelift with a slightly better dial and dumpped the roulette datewheel.

My three frankens.

A 5506 Air-King powered by a non-hacking ETA 2472 that beats at 18,000bph. Gen case and dial picked up on the cheap on ebay, hands were from cousinsuk, gen crown from ebay, on a braided NATO strap, I plan to pic up a gen Rolex leather strap and buckle in the future.

A 5500 Explorer powered by an Asian 2824. Gen 1500 case, Yuki Dial, Raffles hands, Gen 7835 bracelet.

A 1603 Datejust powered by an Asian 2824. Gen 1603 case, Gen dial, DWO from cubic works, Clark hands, Rep Jubilee from Raffles.

Well, except for a couple old school PAM reps which are merely modded and a couple gens, all my watches are frankens. Some now gone...

Here's one built as a present for my brother a couple years back when he completed his PhD. He still wears it daily. The recipe was Gen dial, case, bezel, crown, tube, bracelet, date wheel. Rep no-lume hands. Aftermarket crystal (I really liked the quality). ETA 2892A2 in a stilty movement holder.

Thank you, sir.

Gotta keep trying different things :)

I do love vintage Rolex very much... But I think one can only do so many of them after a while before it all starts to feel somewhat cyclical (at least to me). So, I've been trying to expand my interests, not just within the hobby of horology, but applying that approach to other aspects in life as well :)
