breezethrusd
I just purchased a gen navitimer from ebay. I got a great deal on it and am excited that it finally arrived. I do have some issues with it however. 1. Authenticity - I made an appointment with a jeweler for next week to have the watch checked out for authenticity. With my mediocre knowledge of reps, I feel like this is a genuine navitimer, but I would still appreciate some reassurance. I have attached some pics and would love everyones opinion. Are there any specific details or areas of the watch I should look into to make sure its genuine? I do not have a case back opener. 2. The date wheel is not working. When the crown is pulled out halfway, the date wheel does not advance. All other functions are working including chronometer functions. It seems to me like the crown is slightly misaligned (looks to be a bit off axis when spinning). Is this a common issue? Is it a relatively easy fix or something that will cost hundreds? If it is a very expensive issue, I may consider returning the watch, 3. The leather band is worn, I would say it has 60% of its life left. The thing that is really bothering me is the stitching on the band. It turned into a yellowish/brown color. What is the best agent that I could use to clean/restore this leather band? Or is it past the stage of restoration? Thanks for any advice or input!

breezethrusd
Looks like good old soap + water did the trick to clean the stitching on the strap Now my only issue is the date wheel that doesn't function
bobkat
That looks gen to me, that date wheel was not available for reps and the reps came only with 7750 which had a sunken date. Not sure about the mechanical issues you're having, someone else hopefully chimes in! Good job cleaning up the strap, looks nice!
Mike on a bike
Contact member MD2020 in regard to date wheel issue and maybe have him service movement. Wear in good health!
sneed12
That movement does not have a quickset date. The date is not supposed to advance with the crown in position 2. The only way to advance the date is to roll the time over midnight. You can usually get it to advance by rolling back to 8PM and then forward to 2AM a bunch of times. bwhitesox
Nothing wrong with that gen but the date is set a little differently on these ones mate ; You have to manually advance the time between 8:00 and just after midnight (date-change) and turn it back to before 8:00 and repeat this for each day you want to advance. If the date is at 2 and you want to go to 1, you have to do this 30 times... Edit: Sneed beat me to it Edited May 2, 2013 by bwhitesox
