Maybe tone down the avatars a bit?

Agree with Freddy (except that free speech doesn't apply on a privately owned and moderated forum).  Though I don't find it a big enough deal to ask peeps to change their avatars.  But I do agree with Freddy.  However, I just turn them off.  Why can't the OP do the same?  This I don't understand.

we're all adults here.. and lets face it, mostly men. and where men meet up there will be talk about women! i agree that this forum is about watches, but we talk about everyday stuff too.. putting restraints on the slightly less dressed avatars/signatures we have will put an end to a natural flow of conversation..

the point about kids i get, but about wifes/Gfs ...no bikini never hurt anyone! if your at work /or in a situation where exposure of skin is inaproporiate, please turn off avatars.. dont ask the others to not post/change..

Everyone has the right to use a half-naked-avatar. But I think when you choose your avatar, you show your maturity as well as your respect towards others...

nothing to do with respect towards anyone .. you saing its disrespectful towards women/anyone to like a half-naked woman...

It's degrading to women either way. But I'm not here to argue this point as clearly I'm not going to change any minds.

What does bother me is the attitude of "If you don't like it, you don't have to see it." People have to make a distinction between what is offensive to some and what is harmful to all. If you don't understand why such behavior is harmful, like I said, I'm not going to waste your time, nor mine.

To continue with this sentiment the main issue I wanted to bring up being the vids whoever posted the otherday, in general discussion, with no heads up that it contained explicit material. That sort of posting, IMHO should be labeled as such so I would have known to not open it with my 5yo son looking at the forum with me. I'm not opposed to properly labeled "stuff" nor the tiny avitars, keep the avitars for all I care. I am an adult and can moderate content I choose to see but if it is mislabeled I can't do that now can I?

Oh boy, what a can of worms. :unknw:   You guys can do what you like as far as I am concerned, all know I am no prude.  As I stated before I find it hard to argue for in the general forum and to paraphrase sentiment put forth by some  make it easy on the guys w/ kids or an overly jealous wife .  I have no dog in the hunt my bike is pretty tame and some long time members I consider friends have some shall we say interesting avatars along with some of our strongest supporters so I would tread carefully here gentlemen. :g: We can ill afford to lose anyone in numbers or support so turn down the testosterone on both sides there will be no winner except at the expense of RWG as a whole. :pimp:  Let us all just keep in mind this is a place we would like all our members to use in comfort so keep it on the low with the risque stuff in your general posts just to be nice! :inverted: We are a male centric board to say the least so I would venture better learn to live with the avatars.

For the record, RWG rules prohibit 'Pornographic, adult or warez content' (if you have not yet done so, please read The Rules) &, without getting into another constitutional straw man debate, I think we can all agree that showing genitals (full frontals) & acts of sex (playing a Clinton & debating the meaning of the word 'act' is not going to excuse you) fall into these categories. If you come across an avatar or pic on RWG in any forum other than the 'Bits, bytes & babes' forum, please report it to admin.

wait, I'm confused. I thought we had the option of shutting off avatars if we are offended/don't want to see them.

So we have a solution to the problem that already exists and is implemented, yet we are still discussing it?

Seems like a thread that should never have started in the first place IMO.
