whoopy12 Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Hey everyone, thought I'd start a new thread as the previous two were getting a bit cluttered. Dials arrived today! I would have taken more pictures, but I only have a crappy iphone camera to work with atm. First thoughts: I'm amazed at the level of consistency in regards QC. No dials have any discernible print problems - everything looks crisp as it should. I will be setting up a post in the "parts" section, as I have more dials from this batch available. While I'm extremely happy with the outcome of this batch, I will not be doing another run (so please don't ask me). I want to thank all of the preorderer's on rwg that made this possible. If it wasn't for you, this wouldn't have ever picked up steam! Also, big shout out to aero dave for spearheading the preordering
netniet Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Thank you for a very nice dial. Can't wait to see it in my mailbox soon.
ceocorona Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 thats some serious work you put into these dials. good work
Aero_Dave Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Whoopy's, I only did a very small part (what I could to help) but You my friend, did all of the Hard work! I'm very excited and can't wait to get my dial! Thank-you again, for making this project a reality for everyone. Dave...
whoopy12 Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 UPDATE: Most of the orders have been shipped. I will be shipping the rest tomorrow! Sidenote: These guys look GREAT under a loupe - Whoop
CptTripps Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 ::: golf claps :::Well done sir. Well done.
Ephry73 Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 My hat's off to you whoop. Dealing with factories and different sources can be daunting to say the least. The dials look great. E
whoopy12 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Took some more photos! Still not satisfied with the picture quality, as the dials look amazing in person - Whoop
highoeyazmuhudee Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 again: VERY NICE! glossy 14060 (16610 sized) dial time? nudge nudge
Gabus Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Mine came yesterday, very satisfied. Thanks for all the work.
CptTripps Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Both of mine arrived. They're perfect! One question: Who's able to lume these for us? I've got a 1680 and 1016 that I'd like to have a vintage lume applied to. Outstanding work Whoopster!
woof* Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Both of mine arrived. They're perfect! One question: Who's able to lume these for us? I've got a 1680 and 1016 that I'd like to have a vintage lume applied to. Outstanding work Whoopster! I'm curious too, with zig gone, who can do work on a similar level?
Ephry73 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 again: VERY NICE! glossy 14060 (16610 sized) dial time? nudge nudge That would just be sweet if we can get a few of those built. E
dieselpower Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Got my dials today. Excellent work Whoopy, well done 1016 here we come!
Jkay Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I'm curious too, with zig gone, who can do work on a similar level? As far as my opinion is concerned, Vaccum is the #1 lume man nowadays. Other people do lume, and they are fine, and they should keep praciticing. I dont mean to shit on anyone's work .. just keep practicing. the microscopic stripes adjacent to the date window on my vac-lumed 500M
cc33 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Can vac do vintage lume? It shouldn't glow and there are two versions, flat and slightly raised depending on the model..
ck5533 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 kent parks does great job too on lume but slow in reply though.
cc33 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 He won't touch these dials, they would have to be redials on original plates at the very least for him to do it
whoopy12 Posted September 4, 2013 Author Report Posted September 4, 2013 I would check out Rolex Addict and Big Dazza for vintage lume work - both have that puffy/not so puffy tritium look down imo
Jkay Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Can vac do vintage lume? It shouldn't glow and there are two versions, flat and slightly raised depending on the model.. You can certainly ask him.
w0lf Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 He won't touch these dials, they would have to be redials on original plates at the very least for him to do it That's certainly a new development since KP has relumed hundreds of reps in the past.
cc33 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Has he!? I really thought he had some sort of rule. I'm sure that someone told me he wouldn't do a lume job on a replica dial, but a quick online search and it seems he will accept any job, apparently he likes to take his time but it's worth it if it looks amazing in the end imo. Sorry guys, I really didn't think he or jack at IWW would want to be associated with rep dials but I guess a job is a job and it looks like they do...
Aero_Dave Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I just got my dial today! Whoo Hoo, it looks GREAT! Thanks again Whoopy's! Dam nice project! Dave...
