Dlf Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Haven't posted a build for a while, here's my Rolex 6200,( no high end parts used) Thanks to Nanuq for the case dimensions! Much appreciated. The plexi on an angle shows many cracks, but straight on profile not so much. The case was thinned out to better suit the original dimensions then Beveled, and softened. Lugs drilled. Crown tube drilled /tapped. Aged case and polished many times. Bezel was shaped and beveled, nickel and brass finish. Insert bleached Yuki pearl Dial was aged, relumed. Hands plated, aged relumed Serviced Swiss movement Plexi from 1975 original cracks and wear. Caseback has MI5 007 stamped . Few pics Here you can see the difference in case sizes. 1

Ephry73 Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 My thumbs are not big enough. The 6200 is by far one of my favorite subs. E
denimhead Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 Very nice in deed, Looks very lovingly aged over a long period of ownership
cc33 Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 Cool! Looks awesome, I too love that crazing. I've never attempted it though
Dlf Posted November 28, 2013 Author Report Posted November 28, 2013 Thanks for the compliments guys, 'crazing' now I have the proper term Cool! Looks awesome, I too love that crazing. I've never attempted it though Is it possible to artificially create?
cc33 Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 No idea.. I thought you did that yourself. I wonder if it possible maybe by heating slightly
peterw2 Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 What a beaut. I liked your IG posts of this build the other day, but am glad to know the project details now. The crazed crystal is a real unique find. Especially love the macro shot of the dial and seconds hand. Nice!!! 1
Nanuq Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 We tried a crazing project about 10 years ago, one member had access to ultra high energy UV equipment and we thought we could speed up the natural process. He put a gen dome crystal under the UV and in 24 or 48 hours and he started to see crazing but it also made the plexi extremely friable too. To the point that it would be unusable in daily use.(another new word for my friend Dlf)
Dlf Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 Interesting.. I have a few ideas, possibly a dramatically quick Hot to cold treatment might show some results , I have a bunch of spare plexi I will let you know if I succeed . Cheers
Nanuq Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Excellent!! And in the meantime start getting used to the idea of selling me that gorgeous 6200 some day!Resistance is futile!
