Recommended Posts

Haven't posted a build for a while, here's my Rolex 6200,( no high end parts used)

Thanks to Nanuq for the case dimensions! Much appreciated.

The plexi on an angle shows many cracks, but straight on profile not so much.

The case was thinned out to better suit the original dimensions then Beveled, and softened.

Lugs drilled.

Crown tube drilled /tapped.

Aged case and polished many times.

Bezel was shaped and beveled, nickel and brass finish.

Insert bleached

Yuki pearl

Dial was aged, relumed.

Hands plated, aged relumed

Serviced Swiss movement

Plexi from 1975 original cracks and wear.

Caseback has MI5 007 stamped .

Few pics

Here you can see the difference in case sizes.

Thanks for the compliments guys, 'crazing' now I have the proper term :)

Cool! Looks awesome, I too love that crazing. I've never attempted it though

Is it possible to artificially create?

We tried a crazing project about 10 years ago, one member had access to ultra high energy UV equipment and we thought we could speed up the natural process.

He put a gen dome crystal under the UV and in 24 or 48 hours and he started to see crazing but it also made the plexi extremely friable too. To the point that it would be unusable in daily use.

(another new word for my friend Dlf)

Interesting.. I have a few ideas, possibly a dramatically quick Hot to cold treatment might show some results , I have a bunch of spare plexi I will let you know if I succeed .

Cheers ;)
