candide2424 Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 Hello guys, I stumbled on the new helenarou's 5513 case on ebay. I have been wondering what it could be worth. Any thoughts?
hugop Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 I am interested as well. Does anyone know if this is gen construction? Can you post a link?
preacher62 Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 eBay says that "helenarou" is no longer a registered user. Are they going by a different name?Never mind...it is "rouhelena." 1
preacher62 Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 I'd like to know, from the experts, if this case looks right. To me it looks short and the lugs turn down to quickly from the bezel, but that could be just the lighting..
stormclock Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) 5517; Lug holes are wrong, bezel is not a military bezel, case back is not engraved. This for starters. Edited March 22, 2014 by stormclock
hugop Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 The link to the ebay sale is for a 5513 not a milspec 5517. They are supposedly supplying a milspec now but I haven't seen it posted yet. I like everyone else would like to know more about the accuracy of the outside case.5517; Lug holes are wrong, bezel is not a military bezel, case back is not engraved. This for starters. dbane883 Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 Its horrid. Too wide(fat). Too thick. Lugs are wrong shape. Rehaut too deep. CGs are brutal. I can't look anymore. My gen 5513: 1
Nanuq Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 My gen 5513 Lordy Lordy, that's a sweet old meters-first.
lionsandtigers Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 Its horrid. Too wide(fat). Too thick. Lugs are wrong shape. Rehaut too deep. CGs are brutal. I can't look anymore. My gen 5513: @dane883, why dont you say how you really feel??? Nice mf by the way
jackflash Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 I stumbled on the new helenarou's 5513 case on ebay. I have been wondering what it could be worth. Any thoughts? Think you'd get a better deal and result with a Cartel case, drill the lug holes out to 1.2 mm and do a some CG shaping. Here's my 5513 from Perfect Clones with a Singer dial and Athaya 702 crown and tube installed: ... and my 5517 from Puretime, with an Ingod44 dial:
candide2424 Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Posted March 23, 2014 On HR the crown position seems to be spot on. 1
candide2424 Posted March 29, 2014 Author Report Posted March 29, 2014 Up! I was wondering whether I could use the case for a 1680 conversion.
stevedrk Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Email HR about it. He has these cases branded/engraved, as well. He's also making dials for the 5513. There are some nice examples of the 5517 over on Homageforum for you to take a look at. Have been getting good reviews.
automatico Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 The top left picture of the crown side looks like a seagull blasting off a gut bucket and the crown guards look like Ebenezer Scrooge's nose but maybe they are better in the metal. They could be like the IG44 cases...they look like a canoe with a moon roof in pictures but in the metal they are not so bad (I had to say this because I have one). Truth is the IG44 case looks more like an early 1680 thin case than later thick cases most of us are used to. I would like to see one of the Helenarou cases up close because I gave up on making a 5513 out of DW cases...a 1520/70 with 5512/13 spec dial leaves a space between the dial and dial seat. If the Helenarou case is accurately made inside, you can forgive quite a bit on the outside. DW cases make a good 5513 with an Eta though.
Ephry73 Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 It will need work, but, for the price, you could make a. Ice sterile homage.
