Trusty Time Submariner

Trusty Time has two Swiss movement subs that seem to me to be pretty good replicas. I'm a newby to replicas though and was wondering what others think of these two models. Is one much better than the other? I can't post the links so here is the model numbers on Trusty Time's site. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a "Who makes the best sub?" question.

No it's not!   The guy obviously did some research and is wondering about two specific pieces.   Why is that a problem?   Many of us are here to learn from those who are much more knowledgeable that we are, so I think this is a reasonable request and FAR from a "who makes the best sub" question.......

I guess I should've added a wink at the end. Gee p, sorry I got your panties twisted.

On a serious note; I've been able to get by on the search function. That's how I ended up with BK when I was looking for a DSSD. 99% of what I want to know comes from search on three rep sites that I subscribe to.

Enough of that... Someone answer the Gentleman's question already!

Thank you pcardoza.

I tried to do as much research as I could but for somebody new to this it can be very daunting. The more experienced members discuss replica watches using acronyms and other nicknames that only make it more confusing.

For example "noob". At first I thought that was slang for "new". Now I realize it is a factory but the dealer sites don't state the factories. So how am I to know if a watch on a dealer site is a "noob"? There are some great reviews on this forum but then when I go to a dealer site I don't know if I'm looking at the watch that was reviewed or not.

If this forum is only for experienced members then I'm sorry for asking the question. If the forum is to share knowledge then I thought it was a reasonable question.

This forum is not only for experienced members.   The only thing the "elder statesmen" ask is that newbies read and learn as much as possible, before jumping in and asking for help.   A lot of questions can be answered by researching on your own.

That being said, I think your question is completely appropriate.   You're asking for a comparison of two specific offerings and there's no way for you to find the answer on your own.   Hopefully, someone with experience will offer up some information.   I would, IF I knew the answer!

I can tell you the TT is a trusted dealer here.   I have bought some 10-12 watches from Andrew and have yet to be disappointed......    As a newbie to this hobby, I think you'll be totally impressed with whatever selection you make from TT.

Many members in here take the next step and begin to modify or even built their own "franken" watches, with some absolutely amazing results!    I just don't have the skill or the patience to even attempt it.   ;-)

So, don't be put off by the first response.   Read up, learn, ask questions.........    Many will help whenever possible.

Thanks and I appreciate your input, pcardoza.

I have already done enough research to determine that Andrew would be a good dealer to buy from but now I'm just trying to narrow down my choices on his site. I have a genuine Rolex Datejust but have always wanted a Rolex Submariner and a Rolex GMT. I thought it would be interesting to buy good replicas for now. I'm finding that is not as simple as it sounds!

Thanks again.

Really?! There's no need to be a jerk. Everyone knows that I fully support using the experience of this forum's members. Just do your research first.

Landman> my response was meant to be "tongue in cheek". I meant no offense, most members here have a good sense of humor.

If you're looking for the best, then go with a noob. If you want the best noob, go with BK. He's US based. You can find him in the TD section.

Simple.

It sure would be nice if the forum would let you post links!

This looks like the 108B sub you were inquiring about. It looks decent- crown guards are good, The 2824-2 made to look like a Rolex 3135 could be questionable- hope it holds up. I doubt the bezel construction is gen-like, something the TC and BK 16610 reps have, but they run $500 +.

This is the first watch you posted and it's the original noobmariner with the F520117 serial number. Whether you get an actual 2836-2 in the swiss version is highly doubtful. This is a kind of dated watch- it was great in 2007, but now days the BK and TC 16610s are better- but of course more expensive.

You can get the noob for $158 with the asian 21j movement (plus s&H)

Or check some of the other dealers or even Trusty and see if you can get the noobmariner with the asian 2836-2.

Noobs are great beaters, but the more you get into the hobby the more you'll want a BK or a TC, if the 16610 is your thing.

Well stated PCARDOZA!  What is wrong with those who seem to get so offended with a newbie asking questions?  I know when I first began my rep hobby I had no idea what "DSSD," "gen," noob," etc. meant.  Most of the Threads I read to educate myself had these acronyms in them and I had no idea what they meant.  My point is reading these posts do not always educate.  Again, great comments PC!

I'm also a newbie to the rep game, joined here after making a hasty purchase. Anyway I'm also looking at Trusty for a sub rep. I fancy the 16610 but again I'm trying to decide if the ROLSUB108A or the ROLSUB108C is the one to go for. The only difference I can tell is the movement, would the Asian 2824/3135 movement be worth the money over the 2813?

I'm not sure if I'm correct on this but is the 2824/3135 an Asian clone of an ETA movement made to look like a Rolex movement and also it has a higher beat than the 2813?

Maybe someone can explain to me how this guy can sell that watch for $160 bucks and I'm paying $125 for a rep-dial alone....

Come on bud. There is no way anyone would take your first response as "tongue in cheek". I'm not being a jerk by any means.

A lot of people on this board are really full of themselves.  I remember when I waded into the world of "high-end" reps.  Really scary at first.
