lukenorris2011
A english news channel are reporting that a distress signal was made by a Russian sub of the cost of Stockholm, Sweden. Another source shows pictures of an un-identified "submersible" which Sweden have confirmed is not theirs, and can only speculate that the distress signal is an attempt to escape. It's not the first time a Russian sub has been caught in Sweden. What's your opinions? Life's a [censored], then you marry one!

dbane883
Would the subs name be "Red October" by any chance?
fitmic
I live not very far from where action is. Went down to the shore and watched the battleships. We'll see if any submarine is forced up to the surface.
Mike on a bike
More like destroyers fitmc Sweden has not had a battleship since the 1800's, and going by pics even smaller very deadly modern ships in the hunt. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29686756
tomhorn
Everyone spies on everyone, and this was probably no more than a test of a new sub to see if it could be detected ... or as KB said, some sword rattling.
fitmic
@Mike On A Bike Of course they are destroyers! Pardon my ignorance. I served the army and never got close to water. ;-)

panerai153
I sincerely believe that all of these are ploys by Putin to test the West and to sow discord and confusion. He is pushing the envelope all over the world, the Swedish Submarine incident, the Migs and Bombers flying right up to and maybe into US and Canadian airspace, the kidnapping of the Estonian Security officer, the harassment of the Latvian fishing vessel, and of course his grinding destruction of Ukraine. all of these are designed to keep everyone off balance. These are all carefully planned methods of "proxy" warfare, propaganda and disinformation. Just what you would expect from a former KGB agent. Unfortunately, one day, one of the planes will stray too close, or a submarine will get into the wrong waters, and then the shooting starts. I really believe that what he wants is to goad NATO into firing the first shot, and this will give him the excuse to invade the Baltic countries, Estonia Latvia and Lithuania and try to connect Crimea by land by taking the southern third of Ukraine. The West has played right into his hands, they have bumbled, fumbled, obfuscated and denied to the point that he firmly believes that he can do anything he wants and NATO will not respond. I would not be surprised if the midget submarine got into Swedish waters, sent out some distress messages, and then hauled butt back to the "mother ship" which was more than likely the Russian tanker that was steaming in circles just outside Swedish territorial waters. Here again, Putin has the West (Swedish Navy) chasing their tails while the sub is safely inside the mother ship and probably back at their Russian base by now. fitmic
Swedish "know-it-all-persons" say this is a warning that Sweden should not join NATO and step down from training with and letting NATO troops from practicing within Swedish territory. The biggest problem that Sweden have had military cut downs every single year since the cold war ended. What most people didn't know is that Sweden during the 80's had the biggest air force per capita in the world.
