konadoc
Hey gang. I have a TC V6 w a gen insert and gen crystal. I love this watch! I've never seen a gen to compare, but wonder what "tells" exist btwn the TC w these gen parts and a true GEN. Can anyone share that knowledge? I'm wondering if the sweep of the secs on a TC mvmt is diff than a gen? Thanks, KD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DC109
Some say the rehaut is at a different angle, or is a different depth, or maybe it's an optical illusion created by a different finish/texture. Either way, it can look a little different from gen. If you have a V5 bracelet, the SEL is a giveaway. The raised center portion sits much higher than on the gen. Still I bet it looks great--post some pics!
Beone21
No engraving between the lugs, biggest tell if you wear nato or leather like me
Erict719
The sel is biggest tell. The lugs are too fat. The rest is great
watcher
I agree, the centre peice on sel is the wrong shape and too thick. Hopefully the next bracelet can deal with this and mimic the v3 sel more.
highoeyazmuhudee
the TC watch is so incredibly spot on i really wouldn't worry about it. the biggest tell if you physically handed it to someone would probably be the rotor noise or the direction in which you set the time with the crown. but really only a rolex collector is likely to notice that

Bc1221
If you look for tells, you'll always find them. Best to just enjoy it and not go down that rabbit hole. You'll find yourself comparing pics to gens trying to spot the difference. The second hand pinion hole is always the dead giveaway to me. You can put a gen dial, gen crystal, gen bracelet..etc on it but unless you got a gen or a yuki movement in there, that hole will be a tell. Erict719
The hole is my tell also. The rotor noise is loud. Gen eta is very quite
glight2000
The biggest tell is the price tag! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
curiousbunny
It has been over 60 years, I wonder if there will ever been a 100% externally correct sub. Edited November 29, 2014 by curiousbunny
phwtan
How about the thicker middle section of the SEL? Would you guys consider that to be a tell?
watcher
Sel shape defo a tell plus as you say too thick. I hope TC addresses this soon.
