audemarsdan Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I recently posted this over at TRC, but since there isn't 100% cross-over: I recently sent out an email to several replica watch dealers asking them a series of questions in the form of an interview. I got a response from Angus that's a great insight into him and his business. Check out the post at my replica watch blog: Swiss Replica Watch Blog. For those who don't know about it my blog is a general information source for the replica watch hobby. It's a lot more opinionated than my other site, The Replica Watch Report, which I try to keep facts-only. Thanks to Angus for being a good sport and answering my questions so completely!
hyster Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Thanks, I enjoyed reading that. Well done to Angus for taking part.
Chicken Manny Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 That was a very interesting read, thanks!
audemarsdan Posted December 18, 2006 Author Report Posted December 18, 2006 I just wanted to mention that any dealer that wants to do an interview please feel free to contact me! I sent out emails but I'm never sure if they get to their destination (or get read).
tonton2000 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 A very good write up and a nice interview.
V Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Excellent read and congrats to Angus for providing all this info... If he continues like this he will have a very big part of the sales pie the next year
dadog13 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 nice read....hope to see soon the new panerais... ...but i think that mostly we will see improvements of reps that already exist...but we need those too!
V Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Yeah.. I am really for a nice Panerai-Ferrari rep
Dario33 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Awesome read -- thanks to the both of you!
johnboy777 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Great read..... thanks for taking the time to deliver this to us...good job!
chrgod Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Yep. Interesting interview... Thanks for the effort. I really feel that this community is growing, and getting more "professional" every day.
dvn Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 It is very interesting reading and angus seems to be up front in his answers. Here is my question, Rolex seem to be every easy to replicate compare to others, are we going to get a much more accurate replica of some of the common rolex watches?
V Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 It is very interesting reading and angus seems to be up front in his answers. Here is my question, Rolex seem to be every easy to replicate compare to others, are we going to get a much more accurate replica of some of the common rolex watches? No. And you know why? Because people will continue to buy them even with flaws...
Golfman Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Congrats !!!! Really nice blog, and really good idea of interviewing our dealers...hope others will come to play the game
alligoat Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I certainly find it interesting that Angus says the replica watch market isn't growing, but that the quality is improving. I think we've all seen the improvement in quality over the last couple of years, but I find it hard to believe that the market isn't growing.
audemarsdan Posted December 19, 2006 Author Report Posted December 19, 2006 Angus has a good point about the crackdown in the replica trade in China and the rest of Asia. It's a known fact that replicas just aren't as "in the open" as they were say two years ago. In a change of policy people are actually getting jail time for selling replica watches. Ask TTK about one of his experiences at the post in Thailand... I think we're seeing a change in the direction of the replica watch industry. Instead of focusing on quantity they'll direct their effort towards quality. As long as forums like this provide a steady stream of customers they'll do alright in the end without the added exposure of volume manufacturing.
Guest Carl Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Thanks for an exceptionally nice interview!
