Dlf Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 One day I'll plump for a high end big crown, but for now I'm having fun welding modding my cases. This one is a silix case with lots of meat slapped on, took quite sometime ... Yea yea a lot of work you say, but for me that's half the hobby and enjoyment in creating a unique watch. The specs. silix big crown case+ steroid welds, drilled lugs, chamfered. Athaya v2 crown clark plexi/ shaved down considerably serviced ETA 2846 hr old minute hand / Clark hour/ oshk big ball. HR dial / relumed and made tropic gloss with 6 hour marker slightly lighter. i wanted a single line BC not seen many/ some would say it's 'wrong' but Meh. brass bezel raffles insert ofrei pearl. fat bars few pics, I'm no photographer though just iPhone shots in afraid, tried to capture the gloss. 5
ant1 Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 duuudeeeeee. that is so well done, amazing what you're doing with that welding. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk 1
jackflash Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Beautiful work. You are an artist! 1
Bart Cordell Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Wow ! This is a stunning silix mod. I love everything from lugs to bezel. I thought mine was beautiful, yours is splendid. 2
DVNE Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Wow. Loved all your pics on IG earlier. Had no idea it was you. Beautiful work!! Is that a HR bezel you are using?
djulink Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Hi Gents, Awesome work DLF, I imagine a lot of effort was put in the case reshaping ? I was also asking myself about the bezel ?
Dlf Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 I bought the bezel off eBay, It could be, I've never had a Hr BC so I can't confirm, it was much bigger though, had to completely redo on the lathe . here are a few progression shots, in the end it looks easy.. but yeah it's a big job thanks ! 3
Bart Cordell Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Wow ! Don't know how you achieve these lugs extensions. But I can imagine it's a lot of work. Stunning ! 1
rolojack Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Great work really !!!!! I am really impressed !!!!! 1
dbane883 Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Great job. On your next one, try adding material just to the bottom of the lug tips. I don't think adding metal to the top of the lugs is necessary. Very well done 1
Dlf Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 I'll give that a try, I did end up taking most off the top to make it slope down the case, it's the area around 45 degrees up of the lug hole I really didn't like about the case, maybe my v2 will be better . Thanks for the eagle eye
Bart Cordell Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 I'm curious to know the process to add metal on the lugs...

jmb Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 Very cool, a whole lot neater than how my MIG work turns out! 1
Dlf Posted January 20, 2016 Author Report Posted January 20, 2016 Pressure tested it to 10bar also . I dont particularly like the dry tester but it's a cool machine. 1
Ephry73 Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 Amazing indeed. Would love to see that case for a nice 7922 build as well.
