Marv1n
Guys, Been looking through the posts on the old forum and came across a thread that directed someone here: http://www.replicacenter.com/comparison.php On that site they speak of RWG.CC as "a unique scam which operates by having a few scam artists pretend that it is a message board for replica watch enthusiasts. Instead, they set up fake 'sites' and pretend to be private dealers, scamming anyone who mails in a check or money order." Is there a feud or something that is going on? As a new member here I'm just in search of the truth. So far everything here seems to be on the level, but as I have no knowledge of the history of the boards, thought I'd ask. KB
I would say without a doubt whoever linked us with a scam site is feuding.............they just forgot to invite us to join in. Ken Can you please give me a link to the post.
Sherrington
Good, fair question, Marv1n. As an admin I have access to the IP addresses of people posting here. There are many postings from people explaining their purchase experience from various dealers, and I can verify that the IP addresses are all over the board... meaning they're from widely scattered geographic locations. It IS possible to do this by "spoofing" IP addresses, but it is not easy. And the locations from which the spoof would originate would eventually settle down to several hundred distinct IP addresses commonly available for such. This is not happening. We're open and direct here... if we were spoofing and concealing then I wouldn't make these observations, potentially opening up the people running this site for inquiry. Whatcha see is whatcha get. And, btw, welcome! I concur with Bob. There is only (in the main) good honest advise about the watches and dealers who sell them. We also have honest Dealer Reviews and regularly give it "warts and all". You can certainly trust the dealers we recommend.
krustybrand
It is noteworthy that every "recommended" site from that link is a known scam, and that if you follow the links to "customer testimonials", entire threads that are supposedly from various people discussing someone's wonderful experience are from the same ISP. Stick with the dealers here, and avoid the known scam sites that charge you the earth for these "Swiss #1 grade replicas" (no such thing).
jraines87
try this test. Go over there and post something negative about one of their "Recomended" sites and see how long your post stays up All their recomended sites are scams as stated above. By scams, I mean that you're paying way too much for the item listed, and may not even receive anything.

This same "replicacenter.com" scam has been operating for years. There are several similiar scam sites that operate the same way. Often show pictures of genuine watches advertised as replicas. Send you a cheap watch at a huge price. Most buyers are not savy enough to know the difference between the two.
dcrooz
You've been given good advice by everyone here. If you don't believe, take your time here, post some questions, search for answers, look up our dealers and their reviews and make an informed decision. The only people here after your money are our tried and trusted dealers, and they will not make you part with it unless you exchange it for a fine timepiece. Welcome, and have a good look around, enjoy yourself.
krustybrand
Go to their Rolex comparison chart. They are actually telling people that you need to pay $700-$1200 for a Rolex rep or you will get nothing but crap.
Chronus
Look at the customer gallery ... the photos look *too* good.... none of the occasional bad ones (like I would take with a crap camera). Then again even those would be taken by them.
jraines87
If you look more closely it says "RW.CC", not RWG.CC. Yea, I just noticed that it was rw.cc, not rwg.cc.... Never heard of that one before.
Admin
Indeed it says RWCC. RWCC was the first honest replica board operated by Andre (and later Ted aka "teevtee"). Of course they would get on replicacenters scamlist. They were the first ones to offer advice against replicacenter and their advertised sites. RWCC (Replica Watch Collectors Club) was the first replica message board I joined ah..good old days...I remember before it closed down and all members moved to TRC there was almost......*drumroll*.... 250 members ......it was a lot back then... jkerouac
One other point. If this site were driven by one or even a small handful of people posting fake information under fake personas, they would have to be incredibly, incredibly busy. Hundreds or even thousands of posts a day, every day, on an incredible variety of subjects both watch and non-watch related, and in a vast variety of personalities, and occasionally even languages. Then there are the variety of photographs and degrees of photographic skills. I'd like to meet the person ... or team... that could pull off that elaborate a hoax. Guest chichamp
I was a complete noob a while back and now am slightly less noob-like. The guys here are the real deal. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The best advice I can give is to just hang around and read for a while. Get a sense of who you want to work with and what type of watch you want. I've worked with Joshua and he's great, but there are several other very well respected dealers here.

The hard bit would be buying an admin's password on a moderated forum.

Run a free porn ring with a free-text entry saying "write something nice about watches for free porn" and you can fill 'archives' of crap to be trawled. From then on, pay some eastern-europeans or other labour-exporting regionals to feed in several personas discussing watches, culling the prize picks from the porn ring and other rep sites. Photos can come from other forums, google images and legit sites. One week later, you have a convincing site that can get onto google if linkbotted from several PR5+ link exchanges. In a month, you have a realistic site that shows up on google caches, etc. Before you ask, I wear a white hat.

Marv1n
Thanks for the replies - I didn't mean to say anything negative about you guys, just merely asking questions in the quest for knowledge and enlightment. That said, I'm ordering a PO Orange, PAM164, PAM190, and an undecided IWC shortly. Anyone have any other outstanding reps to suggest?

We've all been where you are at one point or another.... Sounds like you've picked out a nice collection there. I say buy the pam first cause you'll probably want all Pam's after you get the first

I'm long overdue a gift to myself, and am thinking that a few reps beats 1 gen any day. My advice is to not go on a spending spree.... Buy one at a time.... Space em out a few months apart. What's your take on that? Also, which vendor PAM do you prefer? Thanks in advance!
Watchmeister
It ain't just noobs. Marv1n- Great post. All concerns are always welcome. If you knew the hystery concerning the nuclear annihilation of RWG 1 you would be chuckling. Replica Center and one or two other true scam sites have caused thousands of current members to come here, old RWG 1 and TRC. Enjoy the read and as long as you stick with dealers with positive feedback you should have a great experience collecting reps. If you move beyond the "I like reps" phase into the search for WISdom, you have also found the place. A core group of members here have more true watch and movement knowledge than any you will find on Timezone or any other genuine site. Have fun. What's your take on that? Also, which vendor PAM do you prefer? Thanks in advance! I think member Nanug, did a side by side comparison of two models of the orange PO... Look around for it and get his comments. Dealers are all personal preference, so I can't really recommend one in particular. I however bought my pam from EddieLee, but I think he's traveling right now and may not answer any question you have right off the bat. Every dealer here is here for a reason. They're all good. Joshua is one of my personal favorites, but others have differing opinions... Edited March 30, 2006 by jraines87
