Bart Cordell Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 After my lovely 5500 Explorer build, here is my 6610 project almost completed. I'm not satisfied with my lume work, so I will make another dial later. Hands will be replaced too with nicer Clark's Tudor. But I'm please to wear it for the moment. jmb V2 6610 case kit with bubble back. Vintaged Raffles hours and minutes hands. Lollipop second hand unknown. True gilt glossy dial. Non hacking ETA 2824-2. 3
time4change Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 wow. Thats nice. vintage watches sometiems are better than the modern models of the same. 1
Mendota Explorer Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 Beautiful! Nice work with this. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk 1
alligoat Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 I'm liking it- nice gloss and the correct OCC on the dial. Only other thing would be a little aging of dial and hands, case also. 1
Bart Cordell Posted June 10, 2016 Author Report Posted June 10, 2016 Thanks guys! I don't have skills for aging parts. I still have many things to learn. Here is the original dial I take for reference to draw
jmb Posted June 11, 2016 Report Posted June 11, 2016 You've far surpassed what I was able to accomplish with decals! I bow before thee... 1
Bart Cordell Posted June 11, 2016 Author Report Posted June 11, 2016 Received a Phoenix NATO Admiralty Grey today. 1
thecloudhopper Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Hey Bart, got any dials for sale? Just picked up a case from JMB Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bart Cordell Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 Hey Bart, got any dials for sale? Just picked up a case from JMB Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No dials to sell. Start over this 6610 because I'm not satisfied with the lume. And I will need a new crown, I can't stand this one.

I'll keep an eye out for one in the future. Great build! Looking forward to the adjustments Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jmb Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Bart. Cool! I've done that on a few builds and have wondered why more folks don't do it. 1
Italiansub Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Seems pretty straight forward but probably easy to damage the crown shaving it....how about a tutorial... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Mendota Explorer Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Very nice work. Looks great. What do you do when it is the other side of the crown that needs the shaping? The crown on my 14270 rep doesn't have the sloping angle at the cap where the coronet is. It is very boxy and squared off. Is there any way to fix that? Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Fix the axis of the crown on a dremel bit holder and hold a little dremel sand disk with the other hand. It's very easy. Very nice work. Looks great. Nanuq Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 There was a thread about shaping crowns to get the 702 look several years ago. Good luck finding it! PS: the gilt build looks great! 1

PS: the gilt build looks great! Exactly ! Found it few months ago but can't find it again. The method is similar as far as I can remember. Thanks for the like I love the gilt effect on all my builds.
Bart Cordell Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 Ready with improvements. New dial. JK hands and TC lollipop second hand. jmb crown reshaped. 1

droptopman Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Suppose to be a 50 year old watch. Adds a little character. You do some impressive work. Very nice
