HR 6538 by Rolojack and me

Today I want to introduce a new 6538.

I bought this watch in August 2015, before discovering the existence of replicas forums. I quickly ordered a HR dial with Rolex logo, a patent crown and a red triangle insert.

It's a beautiful watch but I have almost never worn. Many details bothered me too. Bezel profile too wide, thick case, low placement of the crown, wide crown.

This summer, I was about to put on sale when @rolojack presented the same modified watch. A beautiful work of his hand, as usual.

So I chose to keep it and to entrust him.

His work on case and bezel is beautiful. Look at this profiles ! But I prefer a less aged insert and a true gilt dial.

So I make a new gilt dial with gold leaf, recut the crown, prepared another insert and added a Athaya pearl.

I know how to make a nice dial, but I need more practice in insert aging

I sincerely appreciates a compliment from you.

If we think the same modder, I don't like some of his work. Sometime he make a botch work.

That is one incredible dial you've made there sir, very impressive! When looking at that case profile it's also very hard to understand that it once came from HR - so hat off to rolojack too.

Still indeed, eventhough it does not get much wrist time nowadays: the 6239 is my new time-keeper... for now.

I undertand, this DW daytona is a beautiful high end rep, far better than our modded silix.

I would not say "high end" but she is clearly beautiful... And our beloved 50' Sub are also but at the time I'm more "chronographe".

Well done.. I Chris, you just keep improving! 

I feel some what proud to have been the owner of the first RJ 6538.

If we had some more buyers for the custom 29 mm ETA 6538 I worked on this summer (and the Tempus Machina 216A and 809H) the "last piece" to make the HR 6538 great would be much more accessible. No more Yuki and HR 6538 printed "gilt" dials...

Yes I saw your dial project. I could be interested, but 400€ is a little bit pricey.

I will start a new gen spec 6538 soon, and an affordable true gilt dial for ETA would be great.

It's 250$ lumed. But I can't bring to cut the Rolex feet.

EDIT : I forgot the diameter issue. 29mm diameter is needed for budget cases.

The diameter issue is the whole issue. ?

Cutting or not cutting the Rolex feet  doesn't matter, not real Singer dials anyway.

Also, it will be negative relief. The one above isn't. The last part is unusual. Hopefully they will get it right.

Last but not least. They will be unlumed because I've had several dials arriving from Vietnam with lume plots that have fallen off completely or broke in pieces, also their lume looks great, but since the Tempus Machina dials are my biggest interest I want the base work to be correct so real pigment can be applied so the lume quality not only looks is good. This isn't as important for the 6538. I almost forgot, the brassy color in the picture above is too yellow. Compare e.g. the Tudor 7928 and the 5512 below.  The 5512 is too yellow. Looks synthetic.

Nope, not negative relief gilt...

It's in the same "level" . I've checked several dials with 20x microscope .
