Long before I ever found TRC and now this wonderful place I would read the posts on the genuine Rolex forums and would silently think to myself how snobby and stuck-up these folks were...genuine jerk-offs if you ask me. Back then it made me feel like a "second-class citizen" being a fan of watch repilcas. :wounded1:

After reading lots of replies from our members regarding questions and photos of members asking about genuines they were contemplating purchasing it became clear to me...our members are more knowledable about gens than the [censored] over at the genuine forums...

Hands down, without a doubt :victory:

Yes there are some nice folks on the Gen sites for sure, but from a watchmaker perspective, the fellows who are supposed to be "helping" others can be down right nasty and mean. Many believe that you must make each and every mistake that they did, in order to progress and move on... Some love nothing better than saying

"Yes, of course you broke the himmelerblog hammer, I forgot to mention that small tidbit when I responded to you, but then again, all of us have done the same mistake, welcome to the club..."

As selfish as it will sound, go to TZ and try and find any post (other than the Walt Odets ones) that shows how to do stuff, or detailed breakdowns of movements, or how to photograph, or anything even remotely resembling the wonderful posts and great contributions we have here.

The one post on TZ that did it for me, was the one in which the fellow posted that he "Finally made it on my AD's Daytona waiting list, 3 years to go..."

The follow on comments sounded like this fellow discovered a cure for cancer, and applauded his fantastic move, and also suggested that he "Bring flowers and wine to the Manager for his wife..." "kiss the managers ass" (ok I made that one up, but you get the picture) ad nauseum...

I like it here thanks very much...even though I do own some Gen's...

I think the reality of it is that you have to be a down to earth person to wear a fake watch. Most of the guys on the gen forums are super rich dropping $10,000 and up on watches regularly without batting an eye. I think most of us here are a little more cautious with our money and don't have the egos that come with a $1,000,000 watch collection and 15 cars.

And are generally more helpful!

So can someone tell me who has the best sub?

I hate it when I break my himmelerblog hammer, just the thought of it makes me break out in a cold sweat. One of these days I will learn, but until then me and himmelerblog are enemies.

I'm totally hooked no this site ...have been since day one. It gets to a point where you feel withdrawl if you don't log on. We all love watchs to one degree or another...and the rep side of it (sort of cloak and dagger) makes it even better. From choosing your dealer, picking out a watch, waiting for the postman to ripping open the package from China...ahhhhhhhhhh  There are much worse things in life I guess. One thing I'd love to see, but I think we have a better chance of seeing an affordable 1:1 rep of an El Primero movement is pics of all the guys here. I'd love to be able to accsociate a face with a name but I guess the [censored] at RAF, or whatever the name of Rolexs lawfirm is, would like to also. :whistling:
