automatico
Everyone probably figures I was fibbing when I said "I had so and so..." or "I have one of them..." because I never post any pictures so I made a trip to the storage shed. Well...it turns out I did or still do. Ha! Here are a few pics and everything is 100% genuine... Three left with base cal 1030: 1956 tutone 6605 with tt swiss bracelet dated 56 1959 6605...this watch is in 90% plus condition with no case corrosion at all. A rare find today. Early 1960s gold top 6634. Also in 90% plus condition and it looks brand new inside. 14K Bombe from early 1960s. It still looks like new and I have owned it for about 30 years. 100% original 1675 from 1979 One owner before I got it, no case corrosion at all, and it still has the original bezel insert and crystal. I know the guy who bought it new and the AD guy who cleaned it once or twice. It was running fine when I got it but it has been stored so long it will no longer run. The 24H hand is hiding under the SS hand. Three like new AK...two 14010M and one 14000M. Had fifteen (15), now down to three. They are the latest model rlx I have left. Top left dial is black and the one on the bottom is blue. The sticker is still on the 14000M. Parts...cases, bracelets, etc. The square plastic boxes on the top side are steel bezels. I've been looking for that Omega buckle, it is in the wrong box. Shipwreck...but no watches. Here is one half of a replica because this is after all, a replica forum. My JMB '1016'....

automatico
"Nice treasure chest." Thanks, that is about 10% of the rlx junk. I just wanted to show I have been telling the truth....most of the time. I'll post some other stuff later. It's a pain to dig it out, bring it home, and take it back. "OK, I'll take these two, please let me know where to send funds." I have watches that go with most of the bracelets in another box somewhere but I heard my wife is planning a yard sale... Btw...I found a very nice Bulova Lone Eagle and a lever set Hampden wristwatch with a 'Molly Stark' movement when I was digging through the watches. Nanuq
Rats, I almost had the entire RWG membership spooled up to send you PMs to buy. Then it was only a matter of time until you collapsed under the onslaught and agreed. I'll take two.

automatico
The old 'toot-o-matics' used the FEF 380 aka Tudor 390. I had a copper colored autowind assembly somewhere for one but lost it or gave it away. The autowind assembly was what caused most of the trouble with the 390. They do look a bit like the rolex 1030. bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Tudor 390 (FEF 380) (ranfft.de) "Boy those folded oysters are gonna look good on my GMT and Snowflake!" They ain't folders, they're riveters...

Nanuq
Damn! I gotta get out in front of this thing. That's it, I'm breaking out the big guns. Ken's Left Nut. There, I said it. That's right. I went there.

automatico
"They make great mulch, too." I saw a bumper sticker that said they taste like chicken, it might have been rattlesnake, can't remember. It's been drizzling rain all day so nothing much going on. I went back to the shed and found two more riveters in one plastic bag and noticed the bracelet right above the tutone bracelet in the roll is also a rivet. Here are the two in the bag... I didn't just turn it around, I turned it over, there is a card between them and a bracelet on each side. Here are some bracelet parts etc... I dumped a few out and you can see one 'straight end' rivet bct on the right. The lower stuff is later 93150 trash. The clasp cap in the plastic bag is from a long gone 1959 6538. A few cases... All Gen-u wine. A few gold bezels... All gen-u-wine. Here are some unsigned 'Fat Oyster' bracelets left from my foray into peddling bracelets a few years back. My 'salesman' quit on me. My 14K OPD slow set with ET bez. I traded a high mileage steel Cartier Pasha on leather for it. A few 16xx and parts... R Runners in the front row, empty cases in the back. Movements for three of the empty cases are put away for now. A few movements 'might have' made it into Frankensteins. The second case (from left) with the gold bezel in the back row came from a 'Stilty' project. I bought the watch and he bought the movement from me and put it in a Yuki 1680. Then I bought the 1680 case after he took the movement out and traded the 1680 case for a J$W 1655 case. Since this is a replica forum, here are a few replica bracelets to prove I'm not a rolex snob... Because of all the excitement, I noticed my square Fairfax ran down from neglect.

automatico
I did a quick inventory of rlx parts when I dug the other stuff out. There are two red boxes and one blue box...it all looks alike. . New and nos crowns... 'Takeoff' Crowns from repairs... I'm glad now I did not throw all this away over the years. Genuine acrylic crystals plus a couple sapphire (in right front). The other brand envelopes have genuine crystals in them. Aftmkt rlx crystals for projects etc... That's enough 'Show and Tell' for a while.

automatico
"Brother, now your have crossed over the just showing off!" Yeah, it's embarrassing. The truth is since I have worked around this stuff for a long time, it does not seem out of the ordinary for me or anyone else who has worked or is working on watches to have an accumulation like this. There are also two Bulova parts cabinets, boxes of crystals, and stuff crammed everywhere in the shop. I am not alone in having parts (and projects) all over the place...I have a friend who works on high grade American pocket watches, vintage American/swiss wristwatches etc and he has a two car garage full of tools, watches, and watch parts plus a shop in his house. "Although I will change my opinion if you will send me red box number 2…" Red #1 has mostly 1570 autowind and train parts, red #2 has a few 1570 balances complete, one 3035 bal/comp, one 2135 bal/comp and assorted 15xx parts but my guess is the blue box with crowns will be worth the most if not now, in a few years. Almost all of the crowns are the earlier style with steel or gold caps crimped over the base and they are no longer available new (except from eBay etc) so if anyone wants to keep a vintage watch close to 'original' they will need the earlier crowns. They are mostly for 1960s to 1990s models. Used crowns are beginning to be worth some $$ now and a lot of the used crowns in the plastic bags are pretty good too. They are mostly gold capped crowns, SS crowns were not changed out as often. Genuine acrylic crystals are Ok to have but some of the aftmkt crystals are very good.
