Moppel
Hi folks, I am in the need of some help from you OMEGA experts. I bought this off Ebay. The picture doesn't even show what kind of OMEGA this one is. It was some kind of impulsive buy. I know it can hardly be genuine for that price. But the heck with it. It is only 60 miles away from where I live so I can pick it up myself and have a closer look at it. And if it turns out to be a fake one I don't have to buy it. So what I need now is some hints on how to identify this as a gen or a fake one. Have a look at the dial, pearl, serial number...and what else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. fitmic
It's hard to help you out, since it is quite impossible to see what model that is.
Mickey Padge
Looks to be some kind of watch.................. Seriously though I have no idea what it could be, is the bezel missing?
paulV
Buying something without seing what it is, is always tricky He must have had a reason to make a pic at this angle & distance.....
section8
wow, i wouldn't buy an advertised rep with a picture like that, let alone hope that it's a gen

Moppel
.... Good one......................................Wait are you serious?.................................................................You bought that? Yep. I bought it. If he/she refuses to let me pick it up myself I just won't buy it. If it turns out to be fake ( which I think it is ) the seller would not dare to report me to Ebay as a "non paying buyer". Like I said before: it was kind of an impulsive buy. Okay, it was a massive impulse I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Cheers Moppel
Mickey Padge
I assume at this stage no money has changed hands? See if you can get a better picture of it when you go to meet the seller, just for laughs
marrickvilleboy
ok here's my thoughts. 1. Modern Omega seamasters do NOT have 25 jewels - they are generally 23 jewels 2. There is a reason why sellers choose not to show detailed pictures of the watch they are selling - and I hope you will now know why I'm very certain that it is a fake
Guest Teedotyyz
Just my two cents but doesn't it look like it has a Tourbillon? What Omega has a Tourbillon?
Moppel
Hi folks, I am beginning to have fun with that guy and his watch. He sent me a picture of the movement. I doubt that OMEGA would put their name 500 times on the rotor. Does anyone know what kind of cheap movement that could be? He claims that he got this watch from his father who was on a business trip to the US. The funny thing about this guy is that he has some kind of asian name. And of course I haven't paid for anything yet. Cheers Moppel

marrickvilleboy
Just politely tell him since its fake, you are not willing to spend any amount of money on it. There is no need to string anyone along - considering you don't know the story behind it. He/she may not know anything about watches...
Moppel
Too bad, the fun is over After he sent the picture of the dial I told him that this was a fake watch and that I wouldn't buy it. I must admit that I really enjoyed the whole thing. This guy was full of surprises. First he refuses to let me pick the watch up by myself. He said he would work all day and would only be at home at night. And since he lives in an apartment-sharing community it would be impossible to have visitors at night. As I asked for a picture of the dial he asked me how I could be so picky at this low price. And as I finally told him the watch was faked he said that he never said it was genuine. He also kindly advised me not to bid just out of fun.... My conclusion: If you see a "good" deal on the Bay, it can be fun not just for only one day!!
