Edge Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I recently decided that it was time to try and do some work on my 1680, so I did what I thought best and consulted my friends. They each in turn gave me very valuable advice including some help when I had problems. Now to the work: Dial Changed out for Vintaged one Hands Changed out for Vintaged ones Bezel Insert and Pearl Changed out for Vintage ones. All the work was done by myself nothing to exciting but satisfying none the less. This was my first foray into the watch altering business and all in all I am happy with my efforrts. I had a couple of probs, I attached the dial and hands and had a couple of probs due to the hands not going round properly, catching on each other, fixed that, then had some trouble with breaking one of the movement clamps, fixed that, then I noticed the dial wasn't alligned properly so have tried to fix that also. LMK what you guys think as I always value your comments and opinions. MASSIVE thanks to Randy, Joe, Rob and Dave. You know who you are thanks SOOOOOO much. Enjoy.

Jetsons Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Awesome watch and beautiful work, Chris! I've been thinking about taking my MBW white 1665 to the next level. Now that the watch shopping has slowed, it may be a good time time concentrate on improving the toys. Posts like these just can't help but push one over the edge. Cheers, Jet

Stephane Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Dear All, As I am wearing this watch right now, and that this thread is dead since a year or so, I wanted to bump it with some pictures of the current version. The insert has been completely changed, the current pearl is gen, so is the tropic and according to Edge, much more parts are gen... In conclusion, I am the happy member that wears Edge's 1680 Red right now and it looks like this: Cheers Stephane
charmquark Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 I recently decided that it was time to try and do some work on my 1680, so I did what I thought best and consulted my friends. They each in turn gave me very valuable advice including some help when I had problems. Now to the work: Dial Changed out for Vintaged one Hands Changed out for Vintaged ones Bezel Insert and Pearl Changed out for Vintage ones. Looking around at some Rolex GEN forums, I found someone doing the exact opposite: Restoring a Gen 1680 or did you post the same photos there in reverse order?
