Jumbie Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Considering getting one as a cheaper watch to wear in the gym while still styling rather than wearing a better, more expensive rep with a more delicate(?) mechanical movement. They look pretty decent (the gen I mean since I'm asking about the rep) and are quartz so it won't be inaccurate to have that movement. Any other quartz watches you guys might suggest? Other than the Tag Link cause I have that in the blue auto Chrono so want something different. Please, no criticisms of how quartz "has no soul". Well go ahead and critisize as long as you try to contribute something productive. Thanks.
FxrAndy Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I wear my autos in the gym and never have problem.
Jumbie Posted June 11, 2007 Author Report Posted June 11, 2007 I wear my autos in the gym and never have problem. I bang into things a lot *sigh* but that's good to hear. Also, for what it's worth, I use mostly free weights and not a lot of machines so I deal with a lot more metal than padded bars. Not saying that that's not the case with you but I know a lot of people stick with things like a Hammer machine rather than lifting barbells. I know what my watches have been through and I guess I just want something cheaper that I don't mind scratching/knocking. Guess I could always go with a cheaper Asian movement.
andreww Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) Although the Colt is a very nice rep, its accuracy is way off the mark. Visually, the subdials are slightly too big and serve different functions than on the gen. You will also notice that the gen features two second hands. One is for the seconds chrono, the other is for calculating split times (I think). The gen also features a time-zone adjustment feature. The rep appears to be of the older version of the Colt Chrono (Ver I), as the dial has a uniform pattern of concentric circles. The version II dial has thicker circles toward the outer edge. The rep bezel is also an indicator of it being Ver I, as it lack numbers at the 5, 10 and 20. On the Version I image I have posted, the bezel marks appear to be black. My Breitling catalogue shows no color, so I believe this one has been modded. REP GEN VERSION I GEN VERSION II Edited June 12, 2007 by andreww
Rolexman Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) I'm thinking of buying this one for my GF..... looks pretty nice IMO. Edited June 12, 2007 by Rolexman

I think the rep still looks pretty decent and, truthfully, I don't really mind fantasy watches. Will have to think it over. Cheers.
narikaa Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Ive got this one sitting in the UK as we speak .
Jumbie Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) I'll keep that in mind if I decide on the watch. Right now my quota is gone for a while. Have to comment that the pearl looks pretty bad on that rep though (not a big deal for a knock-around watch except that it may get knocked off) and is pretty different to the gen. I don't really care in this case about it being different cause neither are the chronos but I think it just doesn't look good. PS The top link above the pearl needs a little cleaning. andreww Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 BTW, the biggest issue with this rep is the word Yachymeter on the bezel. YECH!
Rolexman Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 (edited) BTW, the biggest issue with this rep is the word Yachymeter on the bezel. YECH! Well andreww... you and me are real critics. Let me tell you, I bought this particular watch from Narikaa (the one from the pics). I modded the pearl with a razor and it looks damn good on my girl's wrist. IMO this isn't a guy's watch. It only measures 38mm in diameter. Girls don't see/ care about small flaws. This watch is a good buy for the buck. Besides the mineral crystal and the movement this watch is at the same level, if not better, than my ultimate BCE when it comes to finish and feel. Edited July 27, 2007 by Rolexman
narikaa Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 .... Girls don't see/ care about small flaws. Which probably accounts for why the human race has proliferated so wildly .
By-Tor Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Which probably accounts for why the human race has proliferated so wildly . Damn, I was just going to reply something clever there... but you beat me to it.

narikaa Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Yachymeter! Yep good, but in the vast realms of Chinese spelling mistakes on reps..........hardly worth a mention!
Pix Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I have been following that Colt for a while (especially the white), for a 39mm chrono does not bother my smallish wrist. TT said it was discontinued, and I'm glad it pops up again here. The case and caseback look better than the usual cheap Breitlings, and personnally I feel more comfortable with a Quatrz chrono. But I agree, Yachymeter or Yachim
