just a shot in the dark, but i'm guessing this thread is a result of jumbie's most recent off topic thread :whistling:

I have no problem with the subject matter as such  .... I only don't need it here, really...

If my subject matter was offensive and not appropriate to this site, I'm sure it will be removed.

Wasn't really planning on starting a discussion about "hardcore stuff" but rather was some of my musings on the oddities I've seen. Figured that since it was off-topic it would be fine to post in the off-topic forum.

TTK probably knows the OT Forum is OT--maybe, like me, he's puzzled by the current fad of low-end gen fans dissing reps, comparing them to Hamiltons, etc, which of course misses the whole point of reps by 16 miles.

Or maybe he's just f'n around...

...I'll second your second comment... :victory:

Hi,

sorry, I can't fully agree.

Not speaking of the porn matters, but of the low-end gens... (I am directly concerned to some extent, as you could guess).

Well, we all love reps here, cheap or expensive.

And basically we all love watches as a whole, so I feel normal that from time to time we speak about these. Exactly as I feel normal we speak about gen movements, off-topic things and other rep items.

BTW, is there a minimum value requested for a gen to be posted here ? In this case, may I suggest to vote for this minimum amount ? And indicate while subscribing "beggars go home !" <_<

When I read such things, I feel like on Paneristi's boards spitting on everything than is not a 3000 dollars watch...

We're all adults and know what a cheap watch is, what a gen is and what a rep is. If someone's a bit enthusiastic on complimenting a Casio, so what ?

Hope I won't be flamed for that, but please be tolerant : low-end gens are not a sin, and not forbidden as far as I understood.

Thx for reading.

Nothing to do with porn.....it's to do with all the bampots...... ( yeah you know who you are )..... that e-mailed me asking if the Breitling rubber straps I posted for sale were GENYOOINE.......if they were genuine I'd be posting them on the Breitling forum at Timezone or on the Bay.....and I wouldn't be asking $45.00 with FREE f****ng shipping.....which is why I posted REPLICA Breitling straps ..on a bloody REPLICA forum......DUUUUUHHHHH....!

I think high end gens aren't sins either... What does high end mean? Price? or Quality?

if we say price... Ok let's think about $10k...

Would I give 10k to panerai 127? no... So I have the replica 127.

Would I give 10k to IWC Big Pilot? Simply yes. :)

A Scottish expression, south of the border it would be Barmpots

bampotn. a crazy person; a fool or dolt. Subjects: Scots, Scotland

Etymological Note: Most likely a form of barmpot. According to OED, barm, "the froth that forms on top of fermenting malt liquors; the head of a beer," is used attributively as a formative to indicate a crazy or feeble-minded person or idea. This is, obviously, related to barmy or balmy 'crazy.' Thanks to Michael Quinion for the tip on bampot's etymology. Probably not related to the Irish Gaelic bambairne 'dolt, stupid person, lout.'
