cornerstone Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 River's Turning Globe Watch Wow - it's certainly a conversation piece! There is, I should add, another WS-1 model with the earth the other way up - for those of us that are that way inclined
Quarks Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I have seen this before somewhere.... can't remember but def. a cool watch!

ubiquitous Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Man... That thing is sweet! Dunno that I would wear it... But, it's definitely an interesting piece!
cornerstone Posted April 28, 2006 Author Report Posted April 28, 2006 Exactly - I'm not sure I would wear it - but I kind of wish someone else at the dinner party (yeah, right - pub) would!
Richard Tracy Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Interesting piece ! For home wear definately,.. When is the rep coming out ?
FasTTaP Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 pretty cool watch. Too big for me, unfortunately...
KB Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 To be honest I studied it for ages and I couldn't work out how to tell the time Ken
SubFrog Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Huh? Wow, that looks like a snow globe watch. I'm not too sure I'd wear it either.
8o8 Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I think i'd be too busy checkming out the globe and not too worried about the time man it looks really cool though
pizzanooo Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I have seen this before somewhere.... can't remember but def. a cool watch! Seems like someone on the bay had one up for auction awhile back.
slay Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 To be honest I studied it for ages and I couldn't work out how to tell the time Ken I gave up after reading the text twice
jimmytim Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 I'm guessing most people will just ask why you wear a compass? But it is definitely something I've never seen in my life until now.
Tombstone0 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 To be honest I studied it for ages and I couldn't work out how to tell the time Ken You tell the time by looking at your location on the globe and reading the number on the outside rim of the watch underneath. In other words, on the east coast of the US, in the picture below, it would be about 8:30 or 9:00 AM. It's hard to tell at that angle. Fred

It's actually quite a good way to tell the time around the world - would be better perhaps on a desk though. Mind you, I wouldn't want to boil an egg with this thing! Err, your egg's ready when Afghanistan hits where western Turkmenistan is right now!
cornerstone Posted April 29, 2006 Author Report Posted April 29, 2006 Funnily enough it seems they thought of everything... I think the minute hand is that red dot. But even better - the original packaging contains a kit....to turn it into a desk clock! Smart cookies.
cornerstone Posted April 29, 2006 Author Report Posted April 29, 2006 (edited) Hehe...it would be nice to be able to swap them over on a long haul flight! Although, of course, the true aficionado wears two of these watches at a time - one of top of the wrist, one underneath Looking at the pic, Antartica does seem to dominate southern hemisphere watch; damn geography. On a (silly) medical note - if you pull your jumper down over this watch I think you could pull off a great impression of a ganglion cyst! Edited April 29, 2006 by cornerstone
Watchmeister Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Is the one River is selling real or a rep?
Rolexman Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Read the topic title.. gen means genuine means real.....
