Nato straps on a Submariner

I'm still waiting on my 5517 to come in but I really don't like that 2 tone strap. I looked on eBay and and saw several color options. I personally would like a tan but I don't see one so my second choice is olive green. Just wondering what your opinions are. Please post pics if you have any to help me make up my mind. Thanks!

Pugs shots looked great with a sub on black nato, do you have a two tone black and grey there in 20mm, if so want to trade /sell it, pm me, it will save me buying one from some place else!

A friend in need is a friend indeed (....lol) so you'll get first shot if I choose to sell it.

Went ahead and ordered a green NATO after much thought. I just couldn't picture what it would look like on a 5517 then I found this pic here under collection photos. Now I can't wait for the watch and the strap to get here.

i think i need a nato strap for my rollie too

I didn't think I would like a NATO strap but it feels really good. It's so comfortable it almost feels like I don't have a watch on. Greatful that I found Pugwash's how to site about NATOs.

Pugwash's NATO how-to site

I had no idea why the strap was that long, I was getting ready to trim it off.

I'm also glad I found a source here in the states. I ordered it from eBay seller "watchbandgirl" and it was here in 48 hrs. It was a little higher than most but I didn't have to wait for it to come from Hong Kong and shipping was free. Plus it is a really nice strap.

I also ordered a NATO from watchbandgirl and was very pleased with the service, price and I got the new color, navy and grey. This week I noticed she has the black/red NATO in 20mm and I'm thinking about ordering 6 bands- the 6th one is free, for $80- including free shipping- that brings the cost down to $13.33 each. I ran across her on TZ.

From my experience, the Nato strap that came with my 5517 was garbage. Cheaply glued together and it came apart when it got a little wet after I washed my hands... it is also very thin and flimsy. You should just order one from elsewhere.

Some ruminations upon G10 straps:

Tan/kakhi looks cool, green is without a doubt tough looking, gray is weirdly National Socialist, blue is for pansies... In the end, I think that black is really the best tactical color for these straps.

In any event, gray and black were offical M.O.D. issued colors. The remaining colors were options if one was inclined to match the strap color to the color of their military-issued briefs

I've been known to wear a G10 (incorrectly called "Nato") strap on my Rolex sports models.

I either wear the black M.O.D. issue with chrome-plated hardware (which is cheaply made but takes on nice patina), or the well-made thicker variant with steel hardware, or lastly, the black Tropic weave version (during hot humid weather).

Only for the 1675 do I wear the leather G10. It is not appropriate for 5513 since it is leather and the Sub is a dive watch!

I do not like the Bond G10 at all (despite the fact that I have a pic of my Sub 'wearing' one).
