Yes, but they are not insane...the dealers.

Guys and girl, come on, if people buy them...why should it be cheaper ?

For sure, at that price I'm not near the point I would want one...

For that money one of our great modders could make any Rolex look like a gen :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I would not buy one if they cost $300.

I would not buy one even if it cost $250.

It is an Asian 7750 with a rubber strap.

I feel so bad for people who like these watches. But I can theoretically place myself in a similar situation. Suppose the rep makers were able to reproduce the Patek Philippe REF 5970R, with accuracy as this big bang. I would be all over it even for $700... if you love a watch enough to justify such a price tag, then I can see how it would be hard for a BB lover to say no just like I, like a 5970 lover, would pay up to $1000 for a fully functioning accurate rep.

Still. A little strap of rubber and generic Asian 7750 inside a watch described by experts as inherently problematic. Ja cie pierdole - ze ludzie to kupuja! Barany!

there's already a thread about this, should combine them both

but yea, this is a blatant milking of the recent surge of HBB demand..

it wasn't like this for the 'Black Magic'

...but with the recent RG/CER edition and that other 'Tulga' thing.. they've hit on the proper combination to seduce the masses

and yes that is exactly what is happening, people are being seduced because it is a deadly combination...

Polished Ceramic + high reflective finish (SS or RG)

...I've aleady posted my thoughts on this but like I said.. it's a blatant milking of the demand.. as for the actual watch when people say "i don't get it" or "i don't understand" or "why has it won design awards"

...the answer is this as I said on a thread I made

http://www.rwg.cc/members/Hublot-Big-Bang-...ion-t41366.html

and let me quote myself :bicycle:

"first off let me say.. the HBB has won design awards and whatnot and I can see why.. it's not because of their propaganda about fusion of materials.. the genius in the design is the combination of textures..

brushed, polished, ceramic, steel, smooth sleek lines and unforgiving sharp cut angles lead to an imnho, flawless presentation"

the masses are being seduced and damnit they milking the price ... das the only reason/logic/justification i see for this price hike/bump

least i got mine already :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Wow for the past 2 weeks I was thinking if I should fall on the dark side and get a HBB...but with the price increase I guess I'm calling it off. It's just my personal opinion, some how I feel that it's no longer worth it for that price. Maybe I have woken up from my dreams. I understand a genuine HBB is worth much more than the replica but like some members have said for that price range, it must be of a certain standard. I'm not really in the rush to get it now, I think I will get other watches first and who knows when the price comes down in the future if they do then I will consider again.

*By the way I'm new here, may I know are there any historical records showing new watches being sold at a high price and eventually starts coming down after some time?

I've got a HBB that I bought used that was serviced (I'm not sure if it actually was...I have my doubts after The Zigmeister said it was such a [censored] to work with the hands, etc...)...but it cost me $450 shipped.

The idea of paying $800 for basically the same watch...with a ceramic bezel and rose-gold plating- it's ridiculous, IMO.

Hey, if I was loaded, maybe I wouldn't care. But any way you cut it, it strikes me as very poor value. I can pretty much guarantee you that it's not 'twice' as good as the stainless steel version.

I've actually recommended the SS HBB...and if you could get a good deal on a used ceramic SS version, then by all means. But honestly, I've been around for close to a year now, and this is the worst deal in reps that I've seen yet....and there have been some bad deals.

May I remind my Grandma's locution...

"Every morning an idiot wakes up...find him and you will be rich..." :troll2vk:

Sorry, I don't like to judge people, and I won't as far as the HBB buyers are concerned : they all have a beautiful watch and I envy them for sure.

But hell, stop encouraging the scam orchestration : this watch is in no way worth more than 300 bucks !!! It has been proven, qualitywise and from the components side. Vote with your wallet..! Do it now, or you'll soon get 1000 dollars Big Bangs with "triple ceramic wrap and ultra thick plating with superb lume that kills your eyes". Stop it now...

BTW, just bought a Quartz HBB on CQ** I also want to look marvelous... That cost me 35 pounds  Mouhhaahhha !

:sorry:

Hey, if I was loaded, maybe I wouldn't care.

If you or I were loaded, we'd probably be sneaking looks at the genuine!

For under $800, I would recommend the Cartier Chrono with ETA 7753 ... a much more reliable movement, and a striking watch to boot.

Phoband, you're crazy for not biting on that offer....what was the deal? Cause you could've flipped it for a nice profit, worst case scenario. I thought that it was hard to even get the gens at full retail, with the way the supply is being tightly controlled...

Chronus, the 7753 Cartier is a watch that has slipped under my radar for a while, even though I've always liked it...

I ended going with a Pasha Seatimer for my Cartier fix, but that's going to be going up for sale soon- I like the idea of replacing it with the Santos. It's expensive, but as you said, the styling is really nice, and I need a more formal watch...

Hmm...Cartier or PP Nautilus...that's a tough one. I love Chronos, which is probably a bad preference to have if you're into reps....

You can pick up other good watches at cheaper prices - used PAM188 or 196 with 7753... silix had a wite dial Chrono Avenger with ETA 7750 and white dial for around $500, but I think it was the incorrect bezel (closed 4 and bad pearl) but otherwise it is great.

If you want a ceramic fix get a J12 with the ever reliable ETA 2824 ... no chrono issues there.

Even the new average quality PAM187 with ETA 7753 is probably a better deal and likely to last a lot longer !

Just because people buy them, why should the price increase?

I highly doubt the quality of the watches has improved, and, the fluctuations of the dollar do not necessitate this kind of price increase to maintain a 'home currency price', so this is nothing more than people getting greedy and 'shooting fish in the barrel...'

May I remind my Grandma's locution...

I don't think it's the cartel so much as it's the factory.

We've seen other dealers gain access to the super-reps, but the prices haven't been significantly better- which suggests to me that the factory is price-fixing.

The only way that it will be rectified is if other factories start seeing the monopoly, and begin to try to do something similar.

There is some cause for hope that this is happening. The IWC Aquatimer and the Tag are coming from a different factory- but are supposedly 1:1.....

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have to agree wholeheartedly with this comment. The Sant chrono 7753 is a work of art. Surprised it's not more popular...

The cartel-dealers figured out a way to work together with the factory to fix prices. They buddy up with the factory owner, he only sells to them (other dealers said they cant get the watch, or no large quantities) and they can charge whatever they want. Maybe other dealers have to pay high prices for the watch but the cartel dealers dont? Who knows!

Thats the problem when you let people like Josh grow. They used to sell only a few watches, now they have their own damn webshop with CC processor (like bestswiss and idealwatches). With more sales comes more buying power. Thats when they started to partner up to have even greater buying power. They can probably afford to buy 500 pieces of one single watch at once (what other dealers cannot do, because they dont sell in such high volumes), hence the ability to fix prices.

Now the difference lies in the DEALER. Jay&Angel have buying power too. What they do is pass those low prices onto the customer. Josh and Andrew on the other hand are starting to do the same thing bestswiss does and use their power to cutoff supplie for other dealers or make watches expensive for them. That is why I boycot them. I used to buy a lot of watches from andrew and leather goods from his partner, but ever since he started his webshop thing (and the partnership/cartel with josh) I refuse to buy from him. I never liked Joshua, because he's a crook in my opinion (despite all the asskissing he does).

What I hope is, that some other chinese factory owner thinks "OMFGBBQQUACK I can get soo much for that HBB watch??" and starts to make his own HBB (happened to a few other watches before) and sells it for a bit less... That could start a price war.

I would not buy one at that price

I would not if it were twice as nice

I would not wear it 'round the house

I would not give one to my future spouse

I will not put it on my wrist

A few more lines and you'll get my jist

Keep your HBB, Sam I Am

I think I'll buy a green Sub and Pam

Absolutely the case. The behaviours of the Cartel Dealers is absolutely disgusting, and personally, I cannot understand why so many intelligent people are continuing to accept their manipulative behaviours and obviously scamming behaviour and defend them, yet in the same breath knock any other dealer who has been considered a scammer in the past...

The factories do not control price. The dealers do. Sure, the factory price might be expensive, but, it is still not enough to affect the end buyer price. In all honesty, dealers of this size, who ship various makes and models, could even sell a watch like this at cost price or a loss, and make up the difference in profits from their other sales (ie every n00b who turns up wanting 't3h be5t Su6!!1' I bet sales of those alone would be sufficient to make up any shortfall from selling watches like the HBB at cost price. No, the factories do not control price. In all honesty, even the dealers do not control the price. We do. They can only sell us product at prices we are prepared to pay. If more people started boycotting these dealers because of their prices, they would have to start dropping their prices to get people's business back. (Not that the Cartel deserve anyone business, of course)

Seriously, crap to the $800 asian movement on on a chrono no less. I'll save the money towards getting a gen/used Pan or GP or Rolex. They can keep the rep that will likely become an expensive piece of metal crap once the movement dies.

Agreed.

This is an interesting and most informative thread. It reinforces thoughts that I have had for some time. The very business of selling counterfeit watches or products suggests that the participants might be less than honorable. Our forums have perpetrated the impression that these individuals are "trusted" and helped to establish a rapport with them that suggests a personal friendship to the buyer. Nothing could be further from the reality of the situation. Dealers know you by how much you are willing to spend because money is the true motivation for the pseudo relationship. Perhaps in a few rare instances a true personal relationship exists but, I suspect that it would be rare. There is much money to be made in this illegal and shady business and with that comes corruption. For we buyers to have an impact on prices would require a world wide effort because thousands of orders flow into China from around the globe. Many buyers have never heard of these watch forums and are delighted to find a decent replica at a fraction of the cost of a genuine watch even though the price may be high by replica standards. This is the exact train of thought the dealers want you to have and it enhances the posibility of of more price increases.
