Well... I guess I am one of the "silent majority" in this matter.. However, it does not really bother me that much. I just skip the posts that do not interest me.

Those who have been with the forum for a while, as well as on the old RWG, will remember that this subject comes up once in a while. It always generate strong feelings. Kudos to Andreww for speaking.

I have to agree with andreww, but not in any way directed towards a single member. The content of the board has changed within the last 6 or so months, and unfortunately not for the better. Yes, much of it can be and is ignored, but it does become dominant and somewhat overwhelming. This is a rep watch forum. It used to be the best rep watch forum. But, unfortunately it is not heading in the right direction. Ubi is gone. The Zigmeister is losing interest. And I'm having a hard time finding interesting posts these days. What can we do? Well, for one, "cluttered dial" and "new Fiddy price" posts could be initiated where they belong on a replica watch forum: in the Off Topic section. Another point I might make, is that the Repair And Upgrade section seems to have seen much less activity since the last board update when it was moved further down toward the bottom in the sub forum list - coincidence or not, I don't know. Maybe a combination of both things. In any event it used to be my favorite sub forum and chalk full of information, but now it's rarely more interesting and/or informative than RWI's mod forum. This is sad because honestly if I wanted a forum that was 80% banter, I'd spend a lot more time on RWI.

Oh well, hopefully we can chalk it up to one of those "down periods" that we've undergone over the years before (and recovered from).... Hopefully.

Ok, really though, andreww, I think you are correct in the aspect that people are making posts with very little content.

But, most of the time it is not without purpose. Yes, we will see people (RWI & RWC) who post to get to a minimum post count so they can sell/trade, but.. more common and less tacky are people who are noobs and their intent is to become active in the forum. Most do not know much about replica watches but are trying to become knowledgeable and partaking in discussion is one of the best ways to do this. From an administrative standpoint (because we use post count for selling and we try to look at content) we usually see a progression in intelligent conversation, but.. as we see sometimes.. this may not happen and that IMO is when this becomes a big issue.

*Bumps*, That's nice!, Great Transaction with blahblah, etc... should end rather quickly for a noob, and if continued simply becomes clutter that the community just does not really want to see (or at least me anyway). When I have seen a trend from members like this I have sent a nice but direct pm asking when we would see a watch review or quality content as we are a little heavy with the kind of posts that they are leaving behind. Found some diamonds in the rough as well as asshats with no agends other than to sell (they would create another account once caught padding post counts).

Anyway,, sorry for the long reply in this thread.. just a topic I'm a little familiar with and thought I might offer a different view on it.

Understand completely D4M, but this member seems to be going far and beyond the criteria for either of your examples. Some members (Steph, Pug, Zig, etc.) have high post counts as well. But all of them have shown a purpose, to educate other members. VB, in a couple of short months is now the 7th highest poster in the history of RWG. And what have we learned from her? That she has a taste for gaudy straps? Certainly her objective is not to sell watches, she simply craves notoriety. Her web life extends far beyond RWG, and in each situation she exudes an attitude of superiority. Her presence here right now is not a good thing, as her overbearing personality is making some senior members uncomfortable. As evidenced here, she already has her followers, and with time the situation can only get worse. You saw the same situation at RWI. A forum divided is a forum that is destined for failure.

I agree with andrew as well.

RWG (in my opinion) has become sort of an "Anne Landers" board. It is and has always been a "Replica Watch Forum", but lately it seems as if it's someone's (VB's) personal stomping ground and blog.

And I am certainly not referring to not helping new members out, as jsmith11 pointed out.

I am referring to the never ending posts about who met or read or saw what with who when and where while looking or wearing whatever...name dropping has gone to another level alltogether.

I have lost most of my interest in visiting, and all my interest in spending hours doing up an informative "Watch" related post, why bother, it's either going to be hijacked, or ignored over the other non watch stuff.

If this continues as it has - unabated - then as it goes on and on, my involvement on RWG will simply diminish over time.

10. She's NOW a self confessed expert on Panerai watches and straps......3600+ posts.....plus almost as many "Shouts" in the Shoutbox....that's not counting all the other forums she is posting on.....!

11. Her latest rantings involve HER intervention with Silix on behalf of others.......as tho' she has some insider knowledge and influence over Silix......what can she do that the individual on his own can't achieve.....!

12. Her frequent postings regarding her background and 'tenuous' connections with historical figures....such as Klink's alleged relation....August von Mackensen......serve only to aggrandise herself.....!

13. Same goes for her alleged 'familiarity ' with famous and infamous celebrities....O.J. Simpson....Michael Caine etc etc....it's all fabrication.....!

Now a high post count etc etc is simply an indicator of someone who contributes regularly on a forum.....but when that post count is acquired over a fairly short timeframe....that leads to the impression that the poster has little else to do with their time.....and in this case.....I don't think the concern is over the post count...it's the content......the content contains a large number of fabrications.....an attempt by someone who is manipulating the forum in order to bolster their alternate reality...a manufactured reality based on vainglorious attempst to convince others that they have high station and exist in an elevated atmosphere from most others......!

Don't believe it...do a search....for her posts....and just count the number of 'alleged' encounters etc etc she has posted....!

I cannot really disagree, in principle, with the gist of Andrew's initial post. I have been thinking much along the same lines myself -- the fluff factor has been pegging the meters a bit & it is difficult to have to repeatedly scroll half way through so many threads just to get to the watch talk.

However, in VB's defense, I think most would agree that VB's watch-related input is insightful and useful. She is quick-witted, intelligent, gets the watch 'thing' & brings a much-needed female perspective to this hobby.

Where I do take exception with Andrew's post is the post itself. Were it me, I would have voiced my concerns privately & respectfully via PM. Or, at least, I would have made the attempt to work things out privately through a moderator before taking things public. My guess is that the problem would have been solved, invisibly & without any friction.

It's NOT about a 'girl' on the forum....we've had many girls before...highly intelligent also....and I'm not debating that VB is highly intelligent....it's her POSTURING.....!

It's akin to going down the pub....and having to listen to somebody else's mate boasting all night long about his exploits ....with women....at football...what a great driver he is.....how much money he is earning.....etc etc......it gets boring after a while.....then it gets aggravating...especially when he won't go home....and is at your favourite pub all the time....as soon as you walk in the door...you can hear him......ALL THE TIME....!

The thing is though freddy is that the OP was not aimed at an individual, so who should have been PM'd?! The fact that someone came forward and accepted the status of perpetrator was their choice.
