tmg Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 JJ, According to Skeet and Urul the 6538 & 5510 are the thicker (200m) cased subs w/ 8mm Brevet crown, while the thin case Bond subs are 5508 and 6536 (100m). Beautiful watch! I'd like to see more of this project
dluddy Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Here is a profile shot I found on BJ's....
POTR Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Umm, that case sucks so bad, you need to get rid of it and send it to me immediately... Actually, that is a very good case, bezel, crown and crystal... don't see anything wrong with that piece, at all, from that angle... How many of them are there? What's the source?
tmg Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I'm betting it's from the usual sources for Vietnamese made cases/complete watches.
Nanuq Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 That is a spectacular bezel!! Alright, what's the source? And if you decide you eventually need a gen tropic Superdome for that baby... I've got one. Here's how it looks on a 5508:
alligoat Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 WOW! Nanuq, that's a pretty nice bezel on that 5508. Would that be a Silix vintage w/ the Michael Young bezel and a gen Superdome?
Nanuq Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 WOW! Nanuq, that's a pretty nice bezel on that 5508. Would that be a Silix vintage w/ the Michael Young bezel and a gen Superdome? Answers: No, No, and yes.
alligoat Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I guess you don't want to share the details with us, Nanuq?
pfff Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 nanuq's watch is a fake rep, and a real gen
alligoat Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 nanuq's watch is a fake rep, and a real gen Yes, it's a fake, and a real gem- but it's not gen. It could certainly be a ND Trading case and dial, and at that point you'd really have to put a 1520/30 movement in there and you'd have a beautiful rep. All for around $2K or so, certainly under $2500, I would think.
pfff Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 ndt dials neither have a coronet like that, nor the small dot just under the 6 marker, and i think there are a lot more differences that i dont see
alligoat Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 ND Trading was the closest I could come http://ndtradingcorp.com/zen/index.php?mai...hite_01_LRG.jpg The other usual suspects are of course, jewelry and watch- no case, as I recall, and vintagewatchesmq in Viet Nam- he never replies to my inquiries. Nanuq isn't saying much either!
