Here's an oddity that most folks haven't seen... some of the 5508s had an extra lume dot at the 6:00 position.

I wonder what the design reasoning is for that extra dot.

Perhaps to help confirm the 12/6 line of the dial when under water with less than idea visibility.

No idea what the reasoning was behind the addition of the extra lume dot, but I saw a similar gen on TZ a few years back. I probably still have the picture of that watch in my hard drive archive, but I did not file pics by description back then, so it would take hours to locate it now.

Here's another 5508 from bjsonline with the lume dot at 6- peculiar. Guess I'll read Skeet and Urul tonite, see what they have.

The 5508 is gen. Now take a look at this 1675 dial with the same extra lume dot.

So would this be an early 60's idiosyncrasy? Pre tritium, so to speak
