gonzomo
Good evening one and all. I'm not the type to be posting left right and centre on any board of which I'm a member so it's possible that you may not see me raise my head above the parapet for a while. However, I feel compelled to reveal the following dark secret about myself and ask for your understanding. It is over 25 years since I last owned or wore a watch of any description be it genuine or otherwise. Now, considering this forum is dedicated to watches you may wonder why I've joined and I have to admit I'm kind of puzzled too. Puzzled but mainly worried right now because there is a particular example of the rep art currently in the possesion of Narikaa that just will not stop talking to me and I'm damned if I'm not finding myself doing strange, out of character things - like joining a watch forum, having sly daytime peeks at illicit websites and muttering "soon my beauty, you will be mine". Frankly I'm a mess right now, but I figured it was impolite to be lurking and learning without at least saying hi to everyone. If you pass me in the corridors here and my mutterings and drooling puts anyone off, just give me a swift but gentle kick - you never know, you might be the one to save me from this insanity. Guest carlsbadrolex
Am I the only one that sees these thread titles and thinks bad things are inside??? I was expecting to hear about human sacrifice, Satanism or maybe the Catholic Church and small children. It was rather refreshing to simply read that we have a closet watch nut lurking about! Good luck on your quest, and please let us know what it is that you so deeply desire.
gonzomo
Welcome, have you been in Jail for 25 then? And what is it that so torments you? Lol, no not jail. One day at work, about 25 years ago, I decided that watches were too controlling an influence. Always sat on your wrist whispering "don't be late" or "you haven't got time" or worse "you'll never make it in time". So I took it off and determined to take a much more relaxed approach to life and over the past years this approach has served me well. Interestingly, it also gave me a healthy regard for being on time for anything important and consequently I am very rarely late for anything, in fact often the opposite. So, I have a dilemma. There is a piece that I am destined to own - a watch that I desire - I'm sure you can identify with that. However, this is balanced by a healthy fear that owning and wearing the thing can only be detrimental to my internal equilibrium. It's like, a Yin and Yang thing. Pandoras box begging to be opened. Torment?. You haven't even scratched the surface.

gonzomo
Perhaps go for a manual wind watch and never wind it - even the stopped watch is correct twice a day... This is exactly the sort of rationale that I would conjur up myself. You must have it bad too.

arty909
OK Gonzo, lay it on us. Which one from Narikaa are you intriged with? I'll guess it's a Nautilus Jumbo blue dial or a DRSD... Good luck, Arty
gonzomo
I Just hope for your sake it is not a Panerai you are after!!!! I've resisted the lure of the Breitling. The dash and panache of the Panerai. I can even eschew the splendifouresness (does that word exist?) of the Corum admirals cup. I've fallen for the wallflower at the dance, the discreet and demure. The elegant and understated. Damn you Lange & Sohne. I dare not tell you which one. It's just all too painful right now.

gonzomo
Just an update for those that may be interested. This morning I took the plunge and contacted Narikaa re the object of my desire and it is now winging it's way to me. Whilst I fear that Narikaa may be my lifes nemesis when it comes to parting me from my savings, I cannot praise him too highly for the value and the friendliness of his service. Humbling. Oh salvation, where art thou?.........
