Tribal
Hy Gang, sometimes Member ask me about Mods and if I can help them to source the Parts and make the work... Most people Know we are talking about Gen Parts I think a lot of Members know me, and I do my best to help them quick and friendly.. Than I go on the hunt to catch the parts that needed for the work and pay them. When all is collected some Members told me "Hey I'm not interested in Mods anymore" So what's up? If people are not shure if they want it or not, don't ask me about it . So I can save time and money for other things... I bought a MBW 5513 for a Member ,he want it completly modded, after I bought the watch and the Parts he told me he has no cash for the watch !?!? Not really a problem but it bothers me... Man those things [censored] me off Edited April 11, 2008 by Tribal
capice
thta really sucks man, in the future let them pay first and after that you do your search for parts In the last case just hold that guy up to it, and demand he will pay you, only decent thing to do in my opinion
chubbchubb
Sorry to hear that Tribal. I think Capice said the right thing - you should collect money up front, especially if it is third party cost, i.e. parts that you have to source, buy and pay. This is standard procedure in a lot of businesses...
Stephane
I'm sorry to hear that Tribal. The forum is not different from real life unfortunately. You sometimes meet people with no education at all That said, it seems there is a great opportunity for another member to get a great 5513 Tribalised ! Go and get it guys, you will love it I'm sure And yes, you are too kind: ask money first
Tribal
Thanks for your kind words,Gang... My point is "Stand to your words" I do it also and if there is a problem in the future I take care of it.. I have no problem to pay the parts first I can take them for other projects.. Sometimes collecting Parts take much more time that I thought. So I don't want that they must wait a long time... But after Ton's of PM's and questions that i clearly answered they told me they want to have it and than not?!? I think it's not the right way in this community.. Seadweller4000
Sorry to hear this T! I have seen your work on a friends watch and it is exceptional. Really. Stepping back from a project after you had all the work and costs shows SICK ILL MANNERS!

Ztech
Yeah, sorry to hear about your situation. You should definitely ask for a partial deposit before starting work.
Corgi
Why don't you institute a down payment policy? Placing an order costs an non-refundable XX $ which, if the buyer decides to cancel, stays with you.. otherwise it is factored into the cost of whatever piece you're buying. lazarini
Hmmm not cool not cool at all ! T next time as guys suggested ask for partial upfront ... that said glad it has gone to a new home so fast ! regards laz
freddy333
Tribal - I know what you mean. This is 1 of the reasons I decided to cut back on taking in more work. I think the idea of getting a non-refundable deposit is the only way to go. You might also require the customer to pay (in full) for any parts you need to order before you order them. I think that is fair.
Shundi
Completely agree with Corgi.... best way to do things is a downpayment

Man those things [censored] me off Yea, that's uncool. I learned a while ago that the only feasible way to do projects for others is to take payment up front. Since doing this, everyone has been happy. Given your stellar reputation, nobody should have a problem paying you in advance.
triplehd
Sorry to hear about that Tribal. No one deserves this. I agree with the group, some kind of down payment ahead of time.
Omega
Hi my friend, thats the reason for me not to do mods for other people! I do it for me or for some good friends, but I don't need the stress at all, it's enougth that I am working 12 hours/day... My suggestion to you is: First the money, then the party! IMO, we all know you and your ecellent work, so there is no risk for someone to send you the money first and to wait for the job (excluded the guys that you know, of course)! CU tomorrow my friend... ta8088
Sorry to hear about the troubles with customers backing out. I agree with what's been said in all the posts above. At least a partial deposit that is non-refundable should be required. Should weed out who's committed and who isn't. Glad the 5513 quickly found a new home. Tribal
Hello Gang, thanks for all replies and that you understand the situation. Maybe I must think about a deposit. By the way many thanks to all Members that stand to their Words.
