It all depends on what rep it is. I used to buy cheap asian 21J reps and in high number. They were usually on average $100.

Now I go for quality over quantity. I realised that I only need a few beautiful watches and I will be satisfied for years. So now I've almost finalized my collection, and you can say those few are 'super reps'. Average? $400 each.

I've paid as much as $1200 for a rep. But that watch had an ETA7753 which accounts for the high cost. Some of the other high priced reps with A7750 movements just don't seem do be worth the scratch. Beautiful on the outside yes...but still with cheap guts inside.

The average price for "Good" reps seems to be around $300-500. But still good deals to be had in the $200 and under range.

The newer super reps will certainly all cost north of $300. But its good to see the factories are still making less expensie versions of these watches. (ie. GMTII-c )

I think it all depends on the the bells & whistles (i.e. options/upgrades) you choose to get on a rep. Obviously, a rep with upgrades will cost more, but you could be that much closer to a more gen like rep, but if that's not important than you could just get yourself a base rep and save the extra cash.

The price has been going down for me.

I used to pay a lot more and be more accepting of the foibles of the "collectors".

The Internet is a big place and there are more options now.

If there is a watch that I THINK I might like to have in the 300-500 dollar range I will just get an "imperfect" rep at 25 to 75 dollars, put it on my wrist, and see if I like the overall impression. Remember that I am looking for an impression rather than perfection.

That has saved me big bucks on Rolex Daytonas, for example.

I found that they are difficult to read the time at best.

I wear a watch for the time, and how it looks to me.

Totally agree. I a not a specialist enough to care about tiny subtle differences (even if I see them, but I guess for now I don't care !). But As I say the lume from what I have seen is rarely well made on rep. So I guess I might be disappointed with a low budget rep if I am looking for a good lume on my rep ! (especially with the Panerai).

Rep ca 100-150 usd, will not buy, usually quality is crap

ca 250usd, will not think highly. If I like it and movement is ok to me I will buy.

ca 300 usd pherhaps I will buy.

ca 350-400 usd, I have to study and think about it. If it is very close to gen I will buy if not then probably no

500 usd and up, usuallly I am not buyer

average price is probably ca 200-300 usd

$100-150....$200 TOPS!!....

Fortunately, I filled my watch box back before the prices got insane...

The only reps I buy these days are used ones, usually with some problems I can easily fix, and since I already have decent Pam and Omega selection, and have already gotten over the Rolex "thing", and have absolutely NO interest in the grotesque(IMNSFHO anyhow!!)crap that Graham and B&R offer, I don't feel any "buying pressures" anymore....

And another sure sign that I'm still clinging to at least a shred of sanity is: I feel no need for double sided A/R, or glowing lume on my reps, and therefore don't EVER intend to spend the price of a whole 'nuther watch to attain it !!

And I ain't too big on displays either!!

Unfortunately i didn't find you guys till it was too late. i would routinely

spend $700- 800 @ scam sites. i paid over a $1000 for a daytona said to be

7753 but i doubt it.

i have been here about 4 months and already i see the prices going up fast.

many of the new reps are $400-500. look at the ceramic BB for1100!

now i won't usually pay more than $400, for example, i got a HB BB Lite for $269

and its great. i can't see the extra $800 for the top one. also, i started buying

more asian clones or 21J (GMT ceramic @188). i have a bunch of problems with these so called etas.

i know they exist but they are not the same as real store bought gens.

So I will stay with my first impression that 200/300$ fr a rep is good enough.

Something that I was wondering, also. There are lots of 200/300$ watches on the market ?

Are ther mecahnical system the same than the one in the rep or better ?

Frankt, you have a wonderful watches box :D

Depends... Used to be 300-400 from the cartel but I've been shopping rwg's FS section due to the low customs risk (non existent if CONUS), depreciated prices and knowledge that the watch has run on someones wrist for the last three months so it isn't DOA
