Considering a new custom watch

I have been thinking about this watch concept for a long time. A few other people have come close to this design on their own recently. I'm pretty sure I will love it. What do you think?

Start with this watch: (45mm rad)

<ahttp://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff85/james123chen/45mm%20radiomir%20with%20sub%20dial%20watch/45mm%20pvd%20cass%20with%20black%20hands/DSCF8746.jpg?t=1218901397>

But with mil style hands like this:

Then the "Phantom" treatment:

Can't decide between base dial and subsec but I am leaning towards the subsec.

Def sub second. Love the phantom. I was going to PM you. I just did a cool Ti homage which is getting a double AR crystal at the moment. You got me started on the homage PAMs and now I can't stop. Bastard...

Just kidding. Always loved your watches and pictorials OS...

Sounds awesome. Do you have pictures?

I currently have 5 homages and I could see easily getting another 3 or 4. Yikes.

I love this one:

Even if I am constantly concerned about the daylight readability of phantom PAMs, I love them and I think your project is awesome, go for it!

Keep the matte PVD look, no shining allowed here. :)

In my opinion, a seconds subdial would also make it more original.

That would be my one concern as well, or I would likely be interested in a phantom PAM for my collection, but, as you say, how easy would it be to read in daylight... Still an awesome project though

oooh, very similiar to my 666

do you really get that contrast iwth black lume? is it really that black and that glowey? or is tat a camera trick

pvd2mq8.jpg

but i like - do you have the slick pvd look or the brushed pvd look? it looks slick in the later photos

The Radiomir shows the PVD I would get which is a Davidsen PVD so it will be nice and dull like charcoal. The pictures of the phantom watch are the shinier cases. I won't be using that type of case, just the custom dial work.

I do want even the hands to have the dark grey lume treatment. It really will be like that B&R phantom watch.

I have the same case and have been undecided what dial to put in it, I agree on the phantom look. Been looking at this dial option also, just trying to find out if it`s available anywhere in a 45mm.

You can probably just sand down the edges to get it smaller right?

That`s what I was thinking, but easier if I can find in that size.

I may just sterilize my 210 dial on it and stealth it also.

Do it, the phantoms rock. Lume I have found isn't as good as it was cracked up to be, but otherwise it is an awesome watch. I would have gone with a rad if the cases were available. See my avitar for a pic.

Do you have any of your own lume pictures maybe next to another of your watches? I find the upgraded superluminova in the Davidsen watches are decent, and definitely better than what I have seen and heard for some standard reps, or low end homage watches. I am wondering if the lume on the phantom is at least as good as a basic entry level watch.

Will try to take some pics later next to my Davidsen 113, which glows like a torch. Not too sure how they will come out though, only got a camera on my phone, which isn't very high quality.
