Rolex is probably the most hated or loved brand in the world. I am an enthusiast person and developed a strong love-hate relation with the brand. After 4 months of wait and some serious misunderstanding with the AD, my Sea Dweller 4000 (16600) is finally back on my wrist. So I did monitor this one, freshly serviced by "professional" watchsmiths. I was curious, sarcastic even, and thought "Hey, it's going to be completely out of COSC standards. Well. No. Actually it runs perfectly in my humble opinion, surely much better than before: 36 hours: -2 seconds 48 hours: 0 60 hours: 0 72 hours: +1 96 hours: -4 These figures doesn't take in count how much hours a day I was wearing it neither how much hours I was sleeping and the watch was sitting on a table. So I can declare that they did a great job, at least to the movement (polishing, ...I'm not to sure they were very inspired). The two only other watches in my collection running like that are: - Ziggyfied Pam 196 (previously owned by Kruzer and serviced by Ziggy) - Tribalised Submariner from Wactmaker 9 (allthough I think Tribal did not serviced it, which is even more surprising). I can't talk about my vintage ones as I have no record for them and they were not serviced anyway. Thanks for reading what is a nice surprise to me as this was my first ever gen serviced. Tom listened to mine run and wind, with the back on, and told me it needed a service. He also guessed its QUARTER of manufacture by its serial number (he was right). As good as Tom is, Ziggy is the only one to actually work on it. Twice. Hats off to master watchmakers! Getting a 50-years old watch to near-COSC spec? Priceless. He told me "why would you service a watch if it's running fine? You are the only second owner!" Don't you mean "the ones The Zigmeister has serviced, and the ones The Zigmeister will service" ? Stephane, glad you got your SD back. It doesn't seem as though it took too long after the initial mistake was rectified, and you received a perfectly regulated Rolex back in the end. Now all you have to do is enjoy it! They were very surprised and said that here Rolex will service any wacth if they have spare parts. They added that if they do not have parts they go to "restores", watchsmith outside Rolex specialised in restoration as they have a lot of old parts they keep jalously.
